I came to Chiang Mai for a trip with my sister and was recommended the D2 by a friend and saw it on the Small Luxury Hotels of the World site, where you can never go wrong in my experience. I was beyond pleased with the hotel experience, it exceeded all my expectations. The hotel was immaculately clean, had a really fun, young and trendy decor, the location was right in the middle of the night market and so easy to get around, and the staff were beyond accommodating and gracious and spoke English surprisingly well, there was virtually no language barrier. They set up multiple dinner reservations, adventure treks and transportation for us, and even sent a beautiful desert up to my room for my birthday! The breakfast buffet was incredible, the freshest fruits, breads, an omelet bar, Asian options and the most delicious coffee. The gym was modern with the most up to date work out machines, and the rooms well appointed and spacious, and they even left a little desert or fruit surprise on the beds each time they made up the room! Even our check in felt special, they took us upstairs to a private area and informed us we were privy to the free cocktail hour and appetizers each evening and helped us set up our elephant trek and river rafting trip after a beautiful drink upon arrival. Could not love this hotel more! I recommend you register on SLH.com before arrival, I think that's why we got some of our perks. Plus the price was amazing!!

We stayed for four nights in DusitD2 in late April. Besides being an immaculate, modern and enjoyable place to stay I can honestly say I have never recieved service like it.
From check in, to the on floor concierge who booked our trips, to the restaurant staff who are so attentive it's scary.
A very special stay and very worthwhile - highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at the Dusit D2 for three nights in April. We used the hotel's airport pick-up service which was brilliant. A young man was waiting at the airport to collect us, he was very polite and gave us a potted history of Chiang Mai on our journey. It cost approx £2 each.

When we arrived at the hotel is was very modern and trendy, not my usual style but the welcome was amazing! We were guided to a comfy seat to complete check-in, once we were sat down we were given a free drink. Just as we were finishing check-in it struck 2pm and all the staff collected in the bar and did a dance routine to music that seemed to appear from nowhere. It was lovely to see so many youngsters working together and enjoying themselves. Apparently this is a daily occurence.

Our room was again very modern and the glass sided bathroom was a bit of a concern until we noticed the wooden blinds that made it completely private. The pool was a nice size, clean and plenty of towels although it could have done with a bit more greenery to have made it feel less concrete.

The one thing I could not fault in this hotel was the service!!!!

Gig the concierge was so helpful and friendly and the trips she organised for us were cheaper than we had found elsewhere. I travel quite a lot and rarely use concierge as I see them as another way for the hotels to make money but Gig saved us money and gave us much better trips. The elephant trek was the best day of our holiday!

One example of the outstanding service at this hotel was during the amazing breakfast. My husband sat down and our table wobbled and a little of his juice spilt. Within seconds a young man came, mopped it up, apologised because the table had wobbled, got a wedge and put it under the table and then went round secretly checking every other table in the restaurant to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else!!

The location of this hotel is right in the middle of the night bazaar so perfect if that is your thing and many restaurants nearby. It is a little outside the walled city but taxi's are very cheap.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Chiang Mai.

Although there did not seem to be many rave reviews about this hotel, my new husband and I booked D2 for based on a family member's recommendation for our honeymoon. We were most definitely not dissappointed. This hotel is fantastic!! We stayed on the Executive floor. We were able to check in enjoying a ginger mocktail, and each evening we enjoyed free beer and wine with snacks from 1700-1900.

Our room was a great size. Clean, comfortable king sized bed, and good size bathroom. If I had to pick one minor issue, the bath had numerous chips out of it on the bottom. Aesthetic problem only.

The restaurant food is reasonably priced and really delicious. The buffet breakfast was everything you could ever want. Try the mixed fruit shake, it is special.

The staff couldn't have been more friendly and would go out of their way to help you organise activities and advise us of interesting places to see. They also arranged for a cake with chocolate icing wording to congratulate us on our honeymoon.

The hotel is located near the night markets. There is lots to see within walking distance or a very cheap tuk tuk ride away.

Each day the hotel has a 'special' in the bar. Such as 'buy one drink, get one free', 'free tapas with any drink purchased' etc.

The highlights of our stay in Chiang Mai, as recommended by the D2 staff included the 'Chiang Mai cooking school' day. We learned to cook 6 dishes and given a cookbook to refer to when back at home. This cost $40 AUD. The other, an absolute MUST was a day at the Patara Elephant Farm. It is quite pricey at $240 AUD pp, but it was well worth it. You are allocated an elephant to look after for the day. You feed them, wash them and exercise them with a ride into the jungle. Riding the elephant was quite scary at first, but once you trust that you are safe and in good hands (each person has a guide), then it becomes an experience of a life time. The elephants are extremely well taken care of by the staff there.
