I'm going to try and keep this short. We investigated this for weeks before we travelled and D2 Chiang Mai was the BEST hotel I have EVER stayed in. And I've stayed in a lot for both business and pleasure. I think it was the absolutely excellent service and abundance of people willing and waiting to help you. And all at a very reasonable price. Also, the exchange rate was so low, you could tip loads of staff and it cost very little. I think we worked out that they earn about €100 a month, or €5 a day. So a tip of 2.50 for a bar maid or waiter meant half a days wages. Where else can you do this?

Anyway, it wasn't the view which was far from spectacular, it wasn't the room which still was perfectly nice, so that leaves the staff, service, breakfasts (best I've ever had in a hotel), and free evening reception on floor 7. The customer service person who give tourist advice here was excellent. The staff at meal times, due to the soft soled converse runners could appear from no where and as you turn your head one way, they'd remove you plate and when you looked back around your table would be empty and there'd be another waiter or waitress heading your way to see if you wanted anything else. And then again, they we're too intrusive. It was just a perfect experience. I can't go on about it. Chiang Mai is a great place too. Tuktuk is great fun here as there's much less traffic but try and avoid the 5 oclock rush hour (half an hour either side).

Anyway, go to D2, it's great!

We also stayed in Dream in Bangkok. Lovely little hotel. See out review on it. Also went on to http://www.norabeachresort.com/ Nora Beach Hotel in Koh Samui island. Fantastic place if you choose a Nora Ocean Pool Villa. Not sure if I'd stay in one of the bungalows as I seem to attract mozzies and they're situated in a mini manufactured jungle.

Me and my Husband stayed at the D2 hotel for 3 nights at the end of March.

The hotel itself is very funky and modern and wouldn't be out of place in a city like London. As for location it is in the centre of the Night Bazzar so ideal for evening entertainment. There are a number of bars just by the street itself (although it did appear to be a popular gay area so may not be everyones cup of tea).

The rooms in the hotel were on the smaller side but were comfy and had everything you needed. You also got a little box in the room which each day was filled with a little treat. And the staff brought us a gorgeous chocolate cake as a treat as it was hour honeymoon

We only ate in the hotel one lunchtime but the food was tasty, reasonably priced and the service good

The only few down sides of the hotel is the pool area is very small with very few sunbeds. Also while the staff were generally helpful when we enquired how to get to Doi Suthep the only option they offered was hiring their own taxi. We went outside and got a red van who drove us privately up there, waited 3hrs before bringing us back for less than 1/5th of the hotel taxi.

Overall a modern hotel in a great location

We have just returned from a 4-Day vacation in Chiang Mai, Thailand and we stayed in Hotel Dusit D2. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel to go to the local markets.

I liked the Devrana Spa the most. The experience is simply out of this world. Expensive but fabulous.
The food is simply great. and so is the service. The staff celebrated my birthday as well. As we checked in on my birthday, they kept a birthday cake in the room.

Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday and a perfect abode for anybody visiting Chiang Mai.

We loved the D2 in Chaing Mai. There is nothing especially "Thai" about it so if you are looking for a more authentic Thai experience, it may not be for you, but if you are looking for good, professional service, clean, comfortable rooms, excellent business center and work out room and great location, this is the place for you.

After spending 10 days staying in what were supposed to be top notch resorts but always ended up disappointing, D2 was exactly what we needed. The staff not only were extremely friendly and accommodating, they actually were effective! When we checked in, we received a free room upgrade. Our bags were brought immediately up to our room which was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable (like a new york hotel but way bigger rooms and no attitude!) We arrived in Chaing mai without much of an itinerary and the concierge not only helped us plan all of our days and sightseeing, she also booked us a car and wrote out a list of locations we wanted to see so the driver could read them.

The hotel bar was fun and lively with great appetizers (maybe not the best food ever, but after eating so much sub-par hotel food in Thailand, this was by far the most appealing. Tip: if you want good food in Thailand, stay away from hotels and tourist spots and do as the locals do...). The location of the hotel is also great, right across the street from the night bazaar which is well worth checking out.

We cannot think of any cons for the D2 hotel and were very satisfied. Again, this is not a luxury hotel like the Oriental Bangkok or a resort, but it is fun, lively, clean and comfortable with a modern vibe. A winner in our book.
