I was staying at the hotel one night (previously booked for 3 nights), we just came from Uthai Thani by car, arriving around 19.00, found car park of hotel convenient, went for check in, booked for 2 persons, but reception guy told me I have to pay for "joiner" and the price will be 50% extra, I show the booking I made directly through Centara group home page, as well I requested a King size bed, the guy arguing the best way I have to pay for this night, and go to the Centara Internet page to cancell my booking and make a new one for the two next days, the male staff was really out of contest and really not the person can be in contact with guests (room was priced for one or two pax)..Then a lady came and try to arrange all the matters. We check in, no one available to take luggage in car, we have to do by ourself !!. Room wasn't what I requested, 2 twin bed instead of a King size bed. Room are old, and hotelis quite noisy, specially with toilet water, no space to store nothing on tv furniture is already fully pack with advertissing of everything you can buy in different place inside and outside of the hotel. cleaning was ok, the guest satisfaction survey was on the bed table since one month already (I saw the name of Thai policemen was on the same room 30 days before myself, I intend to send by post to the hotel manager). I connected to internet, to modify my booking, then I decided to c/o from this place to an other hotel. The morning after, we went to breakfast, no one has modify the No of pax in the room, even with my friend registered and pay extra, the retaurant waittress has me to check by myself at the reception !!!, but when we came to the restaurant, no staff have time to take care of us, they are too busy to talk each others, of course I told to the staff it was is job and not mine !!, this was not the end at the time of check out, front office officer told me they didn't received my cancellation, I show them their company alredy confirmd to me by e-mail, they said I have to pay for the 3 nights, then after discussion about their confirmation, they let it down and charge the hotel full rates. I'm sure I will never return or advice this hotel, but some properties of Centara group are well managed, and have nothing to see with this place.

We happened onto this place by accident, and what a lovely way to end a vacation! My travel companion, who was in charge of the hotel arrangements, somehow "forgot" to book a Chiang Mai hotel and never mentioned anything until after we got to Thailand. Fortunately, a good Samaritan was kind enough to point us in the right direction. And what a surprise!

After a week of "roughing it" out of Bangkok and being frustrated from the unbearable heat, etc., walking into the lobby of the Duangtawan with its cool marble and great customer service was like something out of a movie.

The rooms were immaculate, having so many great restaurants to choose from were great, too. Although, with the amazing food to be had in Chiang Mai, you really won't need to eat in the hotel. The breakfast buffet is awesome, though.

Every morning, I took a short walk into the old town to do the temple tour and whatever else my heart desired to do. *Note of caution: the air quality is awful in Chiang Mai and you'll want to take stops indoors to catch your breath.

I guess the hotel's reputation is very well-known because I met people from so many countries, especially the Middle East. Chiang Mai is a great place to meet fellow travelers and share your experiences, and it was even more gratifiying to realize that many of these people had also somehow come to stay at the Duangtawan.

There's so much to tell about this hotel. I'll say that you won't worry about "roughing it" at this place, with the afternoon happy hours by the pool, and everything else they offer. Oooh, and there's a 7-11 right across the street for snacking.

The best part? The hotel is located mere steps away from the Night Bazaar. When going back to Thailand, that's definitely on my list of places to stay. I know it sounds corny, but it really was a "hidden gem" right in the center of town.

Great hotel, the swimming pool and fitness centre and spa are great, swimming on the roof overlooking the city. Breakfast was one of the best I have had and the staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Would recommend this hotel to anyone for its location, its style and its staff. Beds were the most comfortable I have slept upon away form home.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights. For the price we paid, this hotel was great value for money.
Fantastic buffett breakky- never too crowded. Nice pool area, although for such a large hotel they might want to think about getting some more sunbeds.
We had a view of the city and mountain in the background, it was perfect watching the sunset in the afternoon.
The location is great, right in the middle of Chaing mai with the night bazaar just a few metres away. Its very safe, with alot of dining and drinking options nearby as well (cheap and more expensive).
One tip though - I wouldn't bother paying for their internet fee of 100THBT for 20 mins (I think), theres an internet cafe just down the main rd, a 5 min walk away which only charges 1THBT per minute.

I also must reccomend for anyone staying here, you have to have atleast one massage at the spa here - they treat you like kings! You get tea, and herbal foot scrub, with the most beautiful atmosphere. Its a little more expensive than the massage places outside but also alot cheaper than the other 5 star spas we went to. I had 4 massages here!!
