“A must see lesson in hypocrisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

It's unbelievable how beautifully adorned this temple is, sitting high on the mountain top. It's also hard to see the native Hills Tribe people sitting on the stairs leading up to the temple, in their traditional clothes, begging for money trying to make enough just to eat one meal a day. Spend a buck or two an buy some of the colorful bracelets they weave out of straw.

“Temples and more temples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

If you don't like crowds, avoid this place. There are tons of people. The temples are beautiful and definitely worth a visit when in Thailand.

“Go early, avoid the crowds and the heat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

We arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday morning and although there where still a few tour buses and a fair number of people it was quite serene. We walked around the grounds and inside the main temple and enjoyed the views and the sounds of the temple.

The ride up is gorgeous, bunt very twisty and sharp corners are abundant.

There are a lot of touristy booths and stalls along the walk up the stairs, but once you are beyond that you can enjoy the sights and sounds with little fuss.

“Beautiful but touristy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Lots of Gold! Fantastic view over Chiang Mai but the amount of tourists showing absolutely no respect for the place was offputting.
