“Comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Great location, it’s in the old town, and next to the Wat Phra Singh/ Sunday walking street. Very clean, new & modern. The staff in reception are very friendly. Breakfast is included and can ask for refill, the mango in the breakfast was very fresh and sweet.
However, the building has 4th floors with no elevator, need to consider to visit if you are going with elder relatives. Also, half of the rooms are next to the main road, it’s a bit noisy. The provided Wifi is not very fast.

Sila was a great find. The location was perfect: in the old city, less than a 15 minute walk to all the main sites and tourist areas -- but not right in the thick of the touristed parts. Owner couldn't have been more pleasant: making us iced coffees to-go when we were up and out of the hotel too early for breakfast, helping us coordinate travel plans. Room was immaculately clean, with bottled water replenished every day. Breakfast was basic but well-prepared.

We'd stay again in a heartbeat and highly recommend. One note: there is no elevator, at only 4 floors this isn't much of a problem (and we stayed on the 4th floor) but if you have mobility issues, be advised.

My husband and I stayed at Sila Boutique for 2 nights from 9 - 11 Jan in room 403, and we really enjoyed our stay. No frills, but had all the basic things we needed. Location was fantastic, away from the more touristy end of the old city around Thapae Gate. We rented a city bike just round the corner for 50baht a day, and that made exploring the city really easy! Gets you to the many local food stalls within the vicinity in a matter of minutes. 7-11 was also just a 2min walk away, as was Wat Phra Singh. Eid recommended that we visit Wat Palad, and that turned out to be one great temple to visit! Less than 10 visitors the 40mins we spent there, vs. the massive crowds at Wat Doi Suthep. Thanks Eid!

The place is very nicely located right outside Wat Phra Sing, from the Western gate only 10 mins walking distance and right around the corner is where the Sunday market is set up and where the main walking street is. However due to this location there are a lot of traffic passing through, and the rooms facing the Samlan Rd get all the noises from outside. The traffic won't die down until midnight and starts again at early morning so a light sleeper like myself will have difficulties.
Other than that everything else is excellent - good breakfast, friendly service, always helpful with bookings, clean and comfortable room with spacious bathroom.

We stayed at The Sila a few days before New Years Eve and had a very pleasant stay. Run more like a B&B and for the price, our stay exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms and bathroom were clean, comfortable and modern - although the shower didn't get hot enough for us - not sure if that is a hotel issue or just normal for Chiang Mai. Breakfast was very routine (same thing every day) but plentiful and did the job. Our room was on the first floor and the only issue is that you could hear people walking up and down the stairs, especially early in the morning. I'm a light sleeper so found myself getting up even if I was trying to sleep in although this did not bother my husband at all.

The owner is very accommodating, if I needed help with reservations or needed to make a phone call she would lend me her phone or make the call for me.

The hotel is located on the west side of Chiang Mai right next to one of the biggest temples - it is a bit of a trek to the main night market and river but it was a conscious decision on our part to stay in a quieter side of town. If you happen to be there over a weekend then this is an excellent location for the Sunday walking market (right around the corner).

Room Tip: Stay at a higher floor for less noise from the stairs but that also means carrying everything up sin...

We only got one night room available during our trip. We plan to stay longer but all other days are fully booked. The room and bathroom is clean. Bed is very comfortable. It is in good location of center Chiang Mai. There is 7-11 in 2 min walk. Staff are friendly and always try to help us. Breakfast is good. Simple breakfast but fresh fruit is provided. Highly recommended!!

We just spent 3 wonderful nights at the The Sila in Chiang Mai old city. Newly built, very contemporary and safe, our host Eid, her sister and family made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed their breakfasts before heading out for the day. There is lots to see her including a beautiful temple across the street. We were surrounded by little shops and restaurants and could walk anywhere.
We look forward to our return . We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor street side. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to ask for a roo...
