“A great place for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

This hotel feels like it used to be the premier place in town but has aged (nicely) over the years. It is a quick walk (5 minutes) to the night markets and many restaurants and close enough to old town that you can walk it if you don't want to take tuk-tuks everywhere.

Note that it can be hard to get internet in many of the rooms... if you need high-speed internet you may find yourself going to the lobby or the pool often. It's good enough in the room to check email and stuff, but heavy users will be disappointed.

Room Tip: My biggest recommendation is to pay the extra to get a "Deluxe" room... it is identical to...

I can't make any complaints for the price (on Agoda) and location! The price when we arrived was double what Agoda charged, so we decided to book online and come back. While the hotel room seemed a little dated, it was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was a good selection of western and asian.

We confused this with another hotel, the rate should have given it away.

It was passable, but only just. Fortunately, we were only there 2 nights and the location suited us. We never ate in the hotel.

Stayed for 6 nights and found everything to be more than satisfactory. Good breakfast with extensive choice. Agree with the faded glory comment (and the lobby does seem a little dark) but the furnishings and bedding are of good quality and our room was fine. Staff were very helpful in arranging a late check out. Great value. Thai rice/noodle place opposite is a particularly good example of its' type. Night Bazaar 2 minutes walk. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: North facing rooms have slightly better outlook.

This is a large hotel, and I'm sure 20 years ago it was quite impressive. However after two nights we decided to change hotels rather than stay a third.

The large lobby was empty at check in. Staff was helpful but not overly friendly. Room was basic and a little bit dated. Comfortable enough, but I would rate it just ok. The was a large variety of options with the free breakfast, most of which was quite decent. My biggest issue was that my second night I went to sleep without any bug bites the next morning I had tons of little red bites all over my arms and legs. I am no bug bite expert, but based on some google searches, they appear to be bed bug bites. Upon switching hotels, I have not noticed any new bites. Could the bites have come from somewhere other than Chiang Mai plaza. Perhaps, but unlikely...

Book with caution as there are better options I'm sure. We found another hotel a few blocks away. Cleaner, friendlier staff, cheaper, and no bed bugs.

3 nights stay in the hotel. Accessible everywhere with taxi just outside the lobby, red vehicle and tuk tuk outside the hotel main entrance.
Stay at 13th floor, good mountain facing view. Abit dusty but considered clean.
Breakfast is good. Variety but same dishes throughout all 3 days.
No safe. Wifi no good.
Good service as I forgot my traveller charger and hotel staff loaned me one at THB100 deposit.
If you need extra bed, make sure you email them and get the pricing before going there. As they charge me differently when I reach. Luckily I print out the email and show them.

Room Tip: Ask for window and high floor, pay more for the quality room

When there is a safety incident in your hotel you expect serious action from the management. We evacuated our room in response to a fire alarm and smell of smoke in the corridor. We used the fire escape and eventually reached a locked exit door at the ground level which we could see lead into a service area. The staff on the other side were oblivious to the alarm and refused to open the door saying 'staff only'. We went back up to the lobby level to find that reception staff were also oblivious to the alarm. There was no duty manager available. I reported the incident to the tourist police. Apart from the hotel management I am shocked that Agoda - the booking agent - does not check the safety of hotels which they sell.
