We love it here it was like a little oasis. The room was very clean a little old fasion in style kind of like a cottage. The bathroom was a little small. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They had good breakfast buffet with alot of variety. We would most definately stay here again. Location was great and quiet

Were  sceptical having seen some reports, we had no issues here, yes it does not LOOK modern, but it is in the local style and better for it.   Spent 4 nights, found staff very helpful and even assisted us with excursions when other rep let us down. I must say go for an upgrade to a larger room, ask for higher floor. Pool area was not inviting, but we had not come for this as spent our time exploring the area The food was OK (breakfast) but we ate out in the town each evening.  It must be remembered many tour companies use this for a 1 or 2 night stop over.

This is our 4th visit to the Empress Hotel and we were welcomed like old friends. It is the most amazing value for money and is relatively close to the famous Night Market but far enough away (some 10 minutes walk) to avoid all the noise. Other hotels which are more pricey are situated in the middle of the Market which has a wondwerful 'buzz' about it but not if you wish for an early night. There are also numerous resaurants within easy walking distance.

I have read a current review about this Hotel which was very critical and, all I can say, is that we have always found the staff and the meals excellent. The rooms are well designed and are thoroughly cleaned every day with freshly laundered sheets. What do some people expect for approximately £30 a night each, including a good breakfast with so much choice.

We have found that if you are respectful to the staff, they will return that respect threefold. Thailand is ''The Land of Smiles' and the staff certainly do smile and could not be more helpful.

This hotel has a very impressive lobby with the most uncomfortable seating I have ever experienced. The staff did not appear to enjoy their work and very few admitted to speaking English. The rooms and the food were average. Room service was very bad with mistakes made in every order even when asking for a jug of hot water which came as a pot of coffee. I would not stay at this hotel again.
