“Nice hotel, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We stayed at the hotel on Sep. 2012 – basic room.

Pros:
1. Clean room
2. Comfy king size bed
3. Good location – close to the night bazaar (2 min walk), but in a quiet place

Cons:
1. Old and bathroom not well maintained
2. Bad wifi reception (although free of charge) – good for emails, nothing more

Conclusion:
The hotel is very basic. For your money you'll get a good sleep and a fresh breakfast (basic with a lot of Thai dishes).

Extras:
1. The hotel owns a very nice and surprisingly cheap fish spa – enjoyed it twice.
2. There are hourly shuttles to the "Airport plaza" shopping mall from the hotel – worth a visit

We stayed at Imperial Mai ping In august and found it to be so central to everything. Very close to the night Bazzar and main shopping. Breakfast was good and always fresh. The staff are very freindly and speak great English. We were on the 10th floor the rooms were great and we had plenty of space. The king size bed was great and private balcony was wonderful. There is a huge swimming pool that we had to ourselves most of the time. Even tho the rainy season we had plenty of sunshine and hot days to swim.

Dear Bubbles in Water
Thank you for posting here on Trip Advisor and for your stay at our hotel during your stay here in Chiang Mai!
We are pleased that you have enjoyed your stay with us and the nearness to the night Bazaar. Even during rainy days the temperature is never cold so a swim in the big pool is always pleasant.

Our first trip to Chaing Mai, and it was an amazing experience. We stayed at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel, and it was everything we needed as far as great location, good service, excelent food and good rooms, the internet cafe doownstairs is free. We were a five minute walk to the night bazaar and surounding restaurants, we were able to walk to the old city and if you wanted to ride there are great little three wheeler bikes like Tuk Tuks for only 50 bhat.So much to do there we didn't have enough time so we are going back again next May.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are smoke free

Stayed my last few nights in Thailand here and the service and location are excellent. Just steps from the night bazaar. Food, shopping and massage all right out the front door.
Rooms were clean and wifi was strong. Everything I needed at the end of my adventure.
Really too expensive during busier times, but something to look into in the off season.

Room Tip: I booked on Orbitz to get better price that what the hotel offered.

So first thing you must remember that you are in Thailand. In general, you will not experience the Ritz Carlton and things will not be perfect -- the beds are very firm, mold grows, etc. However, I would stay at this hotel again for the following reasons:
- It has multiple restaurants on site
- Spa onsite
- Pool and exercise facility
- Air Conditioned lobby and general space
- Overall clean
- Good location
- Tour desk
- Mini bar/coffee/free water in room
- Free wireless

The room was efficient in space. King bed, two chairs and table. There were a few US based TV stations available. The room wasn't in perfect condition - around the window was water damage, the shower had some black in the grout. I did find it clean however. Location was great to walk to the market. Lots of restaurants onsite - many choices.

I did get a massage at the spa -- that was great. Very nice facility, clean, professional -- definately would book another visit there.

I had a nice room on the 14th floor and they honored my request for a late check out. It was $60 USD for the night. Food in the restaurant was super affordable if you ordered off the menu and did not do the buffet.

My compliant really was only with the Taxi desk -- it was 200 baht to get back to the airport. I paid less for a lot further trips. It turned out it was a private car. It was efficient but expensive. I could have walked out to the corner and got a taxi for half the price.

I would stay here again...but don't forget...its not perfect.

Let me start by first saying the service from the staff in this hotel was excellent at all times from pool side service to the restaurants, bars and front desk.always friendly and helpful.
The room size was large enough and a good sized fridge although a table to sit a second suit case would be a benefit.
The room was clean and tidy no problems with housekeeping.
The whole buildings facilities was always found to be clean.
Food room service was great delivering hot and tasty meals.(great pizzas as well as Thai).
We ate at 2 of restaurants (Thai and Chinese) and the food was good at both and Chinese dim sum was excellent value.
Breakfast buffet was great with too many choices.
Location was perfect close to the night markets and in a safe area never felt uncomfortable.
Tour desk was helpful booking us into tours even with only the night before as notice.after speaking with people who were referred to as "special cheap tour operator" and not the hotel desk, were surprised to find the prices were the same at both places.
Great value for money would stay again.

The only positive thing about this hotel was the location. The rooms were very old and dirty. We walked into our room and there was hair on the bathroom floor and in the sink and ON our sheets. The tub and shower were dirty. We told the front desk staff...who were not friendly, and they had housekeeping clean it the NEXT day. After traveling through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand for 2 1/2 weeks, this was definitely the worst hotel we stayed. It is located in walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Not recommended, there are other nicer hotels in the area.
