“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

The hotel is centrally located and is within walking distance to most amenities

Being smack in the midst of the night market, there is a hive of activites in the evenings

The front desk staff are polite and responsive

The breakfast spread is generous.

The room I stayed in is comfortable but the toilet flush does not seem to work well.

I did some hand washing of small items and nothing seems to dry in the room

Not sure I would stay in this hotel again. The location was good right by the night market and an easy walk to bars and other areas of interest.

The lobby was quite nice and the room was a good size but wasn't quite as nice as we were expecting. The AC seemed to have a problem, we hand washed a few items (a couple pairs of socks) and they just wouldn't dry. Never been in AC that was also so humid.

We had an early flight on our checkout day so the night before we checked out we asked the front desk about how we should get to the airport. The woman at the front desk told us we could take the first shuttle at 5:45am which was a bit tight, but we figured we could make it to our flight and be ok. She told us to just come downstairs a few minutes before that to check out and tell them we wanted to take that shuttle. Well morning arrives and we do as she requested and the person at the front desk told us there's no shuttle, you didn't make a reservation. To which we repeated what the woman told us the night before. Oddly enough, the bell captain also looked frightened when we asked about the shuttle, should have been a warning flag for us. THEN the person at the front desk relented and told us, "ok, there IS a shuttle, but you have to pay 150 bath per person". That was just straight up ridiculous but we didn't want to argue because we didn't want to miss our flight. We walked out the front door and hailed the first tuk tuk driver we saw who took 2 of us and our bags to the airport for a total of 120 bath (same as our cab ride from the airport).

That experience as we were leaving the hotel left us with a terrible impression of the hotel.

Good value hotel in heart of Chang mai Got room and breakfast x2 for about 50.00 a night. Make sure you get a renovated room. Staff excellent and night bazaar just outside. Chang Mai is best place to holiday in Thailand.Recommended.

Room Tip: renovated room

Location was absolutely perfect for this hotel, right in the centre of the night markets. Rooms were a good size with nice bathrooms, however very noisy early in the morning with lots of building work. Pool area was nice but again noisy. Reception staff helpful although overquoted us for a taxi to the airport - get one from outside much cheaper.

Great hotel situated in a great part of the city. We got upgraded to superior room.. Rooms were perfect and cleaned every day.. Staff nice and helpful.. Pool and gym were great.. Only poor thing is wifi not the best.. Also there was meant to be complimentary but we were charged after our 4 nights.. Overall great value for money..

Yes the hotel is older, and yes they are in the middle of some renovations. Aside from the things the come from that it was a pleasant stay for us. Here is the bad first. The hall carpets are old and although they are vacuumed daily they are old and need to be replaced. Then there is the construction, which is only during the day which didn't bother us at all because we were out all day.
OK, now here is the good. The rooms were very clean and furnished nicely. I thought the beds were very comfortable and I slept well, but that in it of itself is very subjective. Breakfast buffet was included and had something for everybody. The pool was a good size and deep which meant I could get some laps in and the kids were able to challenge themselves in the deep end. With that being said floaties are a must for the little ones. The staff was very friendly and most helpful during our stay. Location is a mixed bag. If you have you own transportation traffic can be quite bad because of the hotels proximity to the night bazaar. Then again it is a great location because of the proximity of the night bazaar.

I feel quite mixed about this hotel but overall, we didn't enjoy our stay at this hotel as much as we thought we would. The location is fantastic and you probably can't get a better option for this.
The reception area looked amazing, but as we were heading to our room on check in, the carpet and walls looked very old and worn.

I wasn't feeling very well when we arrived with a strong headache forming. To my dismay, there was some building work going on and the noise was incredible. It got so bad, I did something I have never done before and requested another room away from the noise. They were very accommodating and after an hour, they were able to transfer me to another room which was wasn't as affected by the construction noise.

The pool was nice with plenty of towels but sleeping was terrible. The air conditioning seemed to just have one setting of freezing cold or off. We reached a point where we would get the room icy cold before bed, turn it off to sleep and then wake up sweating in the early morning. The beds also weren't very comfortable and the walls seemed to be paper thin. On our last night, I had to walk out of our room at 1am and ask the people in the hallway to be quiet as they had been constantly walking up and down the hallway for hours talking and it seemed like they were in our room with the noise.

The wireless was also pretty bad compared to other hotels we had stayed in until this stay and in places much cheaper too. I was given a password on check in, but discovered in our room that it only worked for one device, so I had to request another for my sons iPod. We also had to re-enter the password every time we left the hotel and came back again and the signal wasn't great. My son had to sit on the floor against the front door to get signal.

I'm sure there are other hotels in the area that might be a bit cheaper and provide the same quality as this hotel so if I am there again, I would probably try another option.
