“Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Overall we found this place to be just ok.

The room was very awkward in that we had to move the beds to get near the air conditioning...a requirement after a day spent in about 40C heat.

The shower was very average as it would not stay warm for more than 2 minutes..if it hadnt been so hot outside this would have drastically reduced our score.

Wifi intermittent at best and only one cramped and poky lift to get all the way to the top floor. I see a few negtive comments about the breakfast, however I really quite liked it. It was basic but was healthy and tasty. I particularly enjoyed the Thai Chicken option. What also keeps our 3 star rating was the excellent and amazingly cheap laundry service.

Also, in a good location, 2-3 minutes from the night market area.

The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Had to pay extra for wifi and breakfast and everything has to be paid up front. The breakfast was really not great. No hot options other than rice and poor fruit. Location is ok for night bazaar but not much else! There is a great massage place (orchid) next to 7 eleven around the corner.

We have travelled all over south east asia and have never felt compelled to write a review until now. Staff were completely disinterested and at times very rude and unhelpful. The building and rooms themselves are fine but they don't represent good value for money with other hotels charging nearly half the amount with free wifi and breakfast. Their other hotel, people place 1, is far better value with free wifi and rooms that are only marginally more basic and a bit older for less money. Blokes behind the desk were good here too!

Good hotel for the middle to low budget traveler. Comfortable rooms, cleaned daily. Only drawback is the lack of a room safe. Guests have to make use of safety-deposit boxes at Reception. Conveniently situated across the Soi from hotel is a laundry and travel agency; both providing a service at a competitive price. Initially stayed here for one week but extended to two due to the hotels proximity to shops, markets and entertainment. ATM's and a 7-11 are three minutes away. Anusarn Night Market is a mere 150 meters from the hotel and is an excellent choice for an evening meal and entertainment; especially the lady-boy shows. Chan Klang road abuts Anusarn and is a tourists delight for buying cheap clothes and knock-off jewelery. Chan Klang road also teems with Tuk-tuks' and Red taxis' making it easy to visit other destinations in the City at any time of day or night. All in all a value for money hotel that I have recommended to many of my friends visiting Chiang Mai.

Room Tip: Hotel has an elevator. So higher floor are no problem

We stayed at People Place Lodging which is almost right beside the People Place Hotel. They are owned by the same company but People Place Lodging appears to be newer and the rooms are nicer.

We had a room on the third floor and it was very large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel has Wi-Fi but you have to pay 60 baht for access. At first I thought this was expensive but then I found out it was good for the entire length of my stay (3 days) and worked throughout the entire hotel (including my room).

There is a breakfast buffet available in the lobby but it was fairly expensive for the small selection. The hotel is in a fabulous location just steps away from the night market and main shopping areas. It is about a 20 minute walk into the old city but tuk tuks are available and the reception will give you a card with the hotel name and address in Thai so that negotiating the tuk tuks is much easier.

There are several restaurants and Thai massage options in the neighborhood. There is also a 7-11 right around the corner. The hotel can also assist you in booking day trips or there is a travel booking office directly across the street.

Yes, the hotel location is only 5 minute walks to bazaar market. It is also easy to look for restaurant for lunch or dinner.
The room also clean and big enough. But there is no internet in the room. You need to go to lobby to get internet connection and pay small amount for unlimited access.
The staff just enough skill to write down your name and give the key to you. Do not expect more. I was there twice with only 4 days different. I got the same room, same price (because had been booked once through my friend); but I got free breakfast for the first time and should pay additional charge for breakfast in the second time. The staff can not explain why it is happen.... just say no ... no... no.... and pay.... pay... pay...

We have stayed here three times, the location is excellent, just behind the night bazaar so long as you are coming back before midnight when the gates close to the bazaar and you have to walk throught the alleyways to the into the street. There are bars and restaurants a plenty around te bazaar, murphys is great for breakfast and you are minutes away from the main street. The rooms have always been clean and in good order, if a little dated, the cost is reasonable , the only downside is the staff on reception who are a little surly but don't let ths put you off since for price and location is a good base to stay.

Room Tip: They have two buildings and this is the older one, when you book as for the first building.
