Oriental Cooking School was one of the highlights of our entire trip in South East Asia. Nice and Wawa were a wonderful team. They picked my girlfriend and I up at our hotel in Chiang Mai. We selected 5 dishes each and went to the market to buy the ingredients. While Wawa went and found our ingredients, Nice walked us throughout the amazing market and explained each ingredient and how to buy them when we get back to the United States when we returned.
Some of the meals we prepared included:
Sticky rice with mango
chicken in coconut milk soup
stir fried prawns with curry powder
After the market, we went back to Nice's family home. A very clean, warm kitchen with all the ingredients carefully laid out. I especially enjoyed making the curry paste.Nice handled all of our instruction since we were the only two students that night. She answered many questions and helped see to it that even my meals came out great! (which is no small feat)
At the end of the evening, very full, Nice presented us with our own cookbooks with the recipes we had made, plus many others. I felt as if we were part of the family.
The price was very reasonable and we will certainly come back again.
