“good hotel overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

We stayed here for 4 nights on our first stay to Chaing Mai. The rooms were spacious and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a nice area, away from the main tourist area which makes it feel more relaxed, with it taking us about 20minutes to walk to the main bars and restaurants. Our only complaint of the location would be that if you didn’t want to eat at the hotel restaurant there is not much choice close by.

Breakfast was good, they would freshly make eggs to order and had plenty of choice.

The pool and bar area had a lovely atmosphere, the cocktails were particularly good, however the pool was extremely cold!

The reason why I have not given a 5 is because of the mosquitoes. I used repellent on myself and the room, however still woke up each morning to several itchy bites, and it was impossible to rid the room of them seeing as both the front and balcony doors left gaps when closed.

This is a really wonderful hotel with an incredibly helpful and attentive staff. I enjoyed the architecture and the very large rooms too. The only challenge was that the hotel was too far from the attractions that I wanted to see. To get from place to place almost always required a taxi or tuk tuk. We found a wide variety of complimentary stuffs within our room. Coffee and a variety of teas all for free. And the staffs were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was something that is worth a mention. Splendid and a variety of servings.

My wife stayed four nights (01 to 04 March) and truly enjoyed The Rim, both the resort and the restaurant (The Canal). The staff is very attentive and friendly. Not being too big, one gets the feeling of a homey atmosphere. The room was very nice and lounging by the pool with a nicely done margarita was a perfect way to refresh after a hot day out and about. While indeed some re-paiting would be in order for such a lovely place, we don't find this reason to affect our overall rating. The front desk staff was very helpful with information and to assist with organising our daily activities. The foid at the restaurant was extremely tasty, cooked to perfection and accompanied by excellent service. We are very happy with our choice and highly recommend The Rim as for us it was a 5 stars experience. Lella and Max

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed spending time by the great pool in the early evening before heading out into the city. The location was great although we did find that we spend most of our time on the other side of the city (only a 10 minute walk). Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was good.
Overall we'd highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: head to their sister hotel Ratchamanka for a drink- much pricier but absolutely gorgeous!

Stayed here for three nights during our stay in chaing mai and was impressed.

Set off the main road our room was very spacious, pretty well equipped, quiet and comfortable. Our bed groaned a bit but this was a minor point in an otherwise very enjoyable stay.

The pool was a blessing at the end of each day and the staff were, without fail, friendly and attentive.

It's pretty well located and never much more than a 150 baht tuk tuk trip form the main sites of interest.

Breakfasts were nothing to write home about and some variations would have been welcome but what they have was nice enough and did the job. It's nice to see that asking for an espresso didn't cause a drama or incur additional costs.

Handily there is a laundry service right next door which, at this stage in our holiday, came in very handy.

Would be very pleased to stay here again.

We originally attempted to stay at Ratchamanka, although more than six months in advance we were not able to make a reservation. When we called that hotel directly we learned that a block of rooms for a wedding caused the problem and it was recommended to stay at the “sister” location, designed by the same architect. Impeccable service began with our arrival and my only regret is that we did not take the option of upgrading to a larger room. Our balcony was just above the lovely pool and music from the water pouring from the fountains at each corner is still in my memory. The staff was exceptionally responsive and gracious. The on-site restaurants are very good (I believe the coffee actually beat my favorite Italian version) and the location is convenient, a Tuk-Tuk always available with the efforts of The Whistle Guy in front.

We stayed for 4 nights in February and by pure chance the flower festival was happening over that weekend. The festival made a usually quite part of the old city actually very lively. The location of the hotel is quite so if you want to relax its great. Taxi's and the shuttle can take you anywhere else. The staff were all wonderful, so generous and polite. They really enjoy their jobs and they do it so well, credit to Nian for his efforts every day. Rooms were large and clean. Decor was very nice, the beds were slightly harder than my preference but i slept like a baby regardless. The pool area is beautiful, very nice restaurant too. This hotel is a real gem and worth every cent.
