“OLD TOWN LOCATION, BOUTIQUE HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Located on the boundary of the old Chiang Mai - great location for Sunday Walking Street and one street away from Wat Phra Sing temple - a friendly boutique hotel in the old style - rooms were extremely spacious with a deep bath tub and good bathroom facilities. Being the quiet season not many guests and no pool or bar service but office staff were extremely helpful - breakfast was good and a breakfast box was provided for an early departure . . . just a couple of doors away from the Blind Massage Clinic - this is a must. Sponsored by Queen Sirikit, the school is for underprivileged children who are educated and provided with meaningful training in various pursuits massage, horticulture etc. With a heightened sense of touch and feel, the masseuses gave us an absolutely wonderful Thai massage which was like heaven after an afternoon on the Sunday Walking Street - wonderful to see sponsorship and facilitation of positive life experience for these people as well as providing an amazing facility for tourists - a must!!!!

The Rim Resort is located on the boundary of the old Chiang Mai, facing the main avenue of the moat surrounding the town. If a little far from the night bazaar area, the hotel provides complimentary daily transportation in the evening. On the other hand, it allows for exploring most of the old town as well as efficient transportation to and from the airport and other places and attractions. Accommodations offer nice amenities and great ambience around a very attractive pool area. The staff proved to be very helpful solving with effectiveness and a smile all the requests that we had during our stay. The breakfast included enough savory items to choose mainly on a buffet arrangement. In summary a great value considering the rate.

Room Tip: Upper floor facing the pool

This is a nice little hotel with beautiful traditional detailing There is a pool in the center of the hotel The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very tasty It's in a good location, close to some temples. As a side note, there is a nice laundry down a side street near the hotel.

We arrived in Chiang Mai from a 5 start hotel in the centre of Bangkok and the Rim was exactly what we needed to feel like we were away from the city. The hotel is conveniently located close to town but feels quiet and isolated once you enter the gates.

The rooms are slightly dated but the hotel itself is a lovely building. The service is good although not many staff are around the pool area to serve you and you often have to go looking for them however anytime you deal with them it's an absolute pleasure. As with most people we met in Chiang Mai the staff are absolutely lovely people always smiling and trying to help accomodate you.

The pool is nice although it is not heated and therefore you cant really swim much in the water.

The food was lovely too although the outside sitting area looks onto the road which is less than convenient. The location is good however nothing is really within a reasonable/convenient walking distance.

I was tempted to give the hotel a 4* rating however when i think about it this would have mostly been due to how much we enjoyed our trip to Chiang Mai. When i consider the hotel itself then it was slightly lacking as a hotel but as a base its great and it was very well priced.

Very good design makes you feel here comfortable.
Actually pool and gym are to small to be serious taken but large superior rooms make the balance. Good brekfast and service. This small hotel is very well located in centre of Chiangmai.
One thing I don't like is the to noisy aircon I have to switch off at nighgt to be capable to sleep. No problem with this for Asian tourists so the hotel is highly frequented by Chinese. You can observe growing Chinese middle class on vacation.

Not sure if we got an upgrade, but its one of the best hotel rooms we've stayed in so far. Small boutique hotel, stylish in the old part of the city by the moat. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and very knowledgable. Would recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

Beautiful small hotel in Thai style, nice design hotel. You feel like you 're staying in lots of luxury and a stylish environment, but the nice thing about it is, that it's against a very fair price, so price/quality relationship is excellent. Hotel is a haven of peace while situated in such a buzzling city like Chiang Mai. We, and our two young children, especially enjoyed the beautiful pool.Hotel has high quality standards in everything. Breakfast is all freshly prepared, especially the noodles were delicious and highly appreciated by us. Further, hotel offers free shuttle to night market. Very friendly and highly skilled staff. Should the opportunity arise, we'll definitely go back here to this little gem in Chiang Mai.
