“Short visit to Phubing Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

During a business trip to Chiang Mai, I and my colleague decided to make a short visit to Bhubing Palace. We have organized the tour from the hotel - Shangri La - where we were staying. Since, the palace is up on the mountain, you better take a tour. It is a curly road, and it will take you almost 45-60 min. driving. The palace garden and also the "Water Reservoir" area is nice and picturistic. However, since the palace is under renovation no one is allowed to go inside. Renovation will last one year as we were informed. I recommend that you take some food with you. Although there is a kind of cafe inside the garden, you can't be sure about the hygiene. Dressing is important as well. If you do not have long sleeves or panths, they provide you in the entrance.

“Pretty gardens. Not a very easy walk.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

The gardens are very nice and pretty. Especially the flowers and the reservoir.
Several tips for those who go there:
1. No knees or shoulders - otherwise you have to rent there cloths to cover them (15 baht per piece).
2. Don't come here with a stroller - some parts of the path are very steep, and involve a lot of stairs.
3. Inside, there is basic food and coffee near the reservoir. If you want to eat lunch, go to the food places that are outside of the palace (just after the shopping lane).

“Limited flowers in late June (rainy season)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012 via mobile

Large grounds and some pretty fountains. Sparse on blooming flowers in the rainy season but probably pretty in peak season. With so many other options on things to do , I'd give this a pass unless it was peak season or you have a good guide that can tell you about the history and such.
