“The mall to find good Thai products and food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

It is located near the airport, about 15 minutes drive from city centre. You can hail one of the red vans, which operates like a public bus and would cost you 40thai baht one way. The mall has a lower ground floor which caters to fashion for the young people.many small stalls and also food pickings.Below the north wing, the lower ground has approximately 3o stalls selling local fare and thai products, ranging from coffee, teas, dried fruits/nuts,soaps,massage oils. It is like a small bazaar. On the 1st floor and second floor, you will find boutiques and small eateries. on the top floors, there are some electical shops and retailers. The main anchor tenants are Tops supermarket and Robinsons Departmental store, which you can buy everythIng you need, from lingerie, sporting goods, beddings, music instruments, shoes, mens department and ladies department.

There is a Japanese bakery called Yamazaki, which sells very nice donuts and pastries..also a dairy queen outlet for cool shakes. Toilets were kept very clean.

Tourists, please note that when you spend more than 2000 thai baht, please request for a VAT form to fill,so that upon leaving the country you can get some cash back.

“THE mall to visit when in Chiang Mai!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

When you are finished with nature and all others in Chiang Mai.. and should you want to go to shopping in a decent mall. This is it!

The Central Airport Plaza mall is near the airport, as the name suggest.. so if your hotel is in the city area, you will need about 30-45mins to get tot the mall by car ( depending on traffic).

Its not super huge mall like the ones you find in Bangkok but pleasant enough to spend some time there.

For everything uniquely Thai, there is a big section called Northern Village. You cannot miss it. Look out for banners all over the mall directing you the way. I found stuff that you get at the Sunday & walking markets here.. and voila! the prices are about the same....

And of course, there is a huge dept store called Robinson's.

There is a supermarket at the basement.. and the smaller shops around that level sell almost the same products at the same prices that you might get at night markets!

For all of you who love fast food.. yes..there are the usual burger, chicken and pizza names!
But go for the Thai food at the basement..

“Pleasant mall to shop in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Central Airport Plaza is located between old city and airport. It's a modern mall with Robinson as its anchor tenant and the usual mix of shops, cinema, pleasant to shop in.

We had our lunch at the food court just outside Tops Supermarket, reasonably priced decent Thai food. It is pity that I only read about basement foodcourt which is more exciting after my trip. We also had no time to check out the Northern Village which sells local crafts. Will go again if I revisit Chiang Mai.

“Not a typical mall.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

The best bargains and food can be found on the ground floor. Many local merchants and food sellers make it the best value in the mall. The upper floors are full of the usual multinational retailers and prices are static. I really enjoy shopping at the Northern Village which features locally made goods. Doi Chaang coffee is also a highlight of the mall.

“Don't miss the food courts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I went through a lot of malls in my 13-day trip to Thailand but I found this one the most affordable, with the cheapest deals on a lot of products. But what I really loved was the food court in the ground floor. The choices are mind blowing! I went round and round and finally stopped at the boat noodles person who seemed was ladling out the steaming goodness to many hungry waiting bowl-holders. I just pointed my finger at a random bowl and it was truly a bowl of deliciousness for only 30 BAHT. I also had kanom krok or mini pancakes which was delicious too. The food courts have mostly northern thai food and are uniformly delicious. I recommend coming here with an empty stomach.
