“Anoma made the Christmas period a real pleasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2010

Tucked away between various other businesses, Anoma is very much in the action, but you wouldn't know it. While the streets are buzzing with mobile cocktail bars, tuk tuk's and motorbikes, stepping into the guesthouse everything seems peaceful. This is because, although the entrance to Anoma is on the street, the rooms are actually about 10m away and that makes a lot of difference.
We stayed there for 4 nights during the christmas period and it was great, loved the free breakfast every day, and loved relaxing in the room when we fancied some down-time, great stuff. Don't miss out on the top floor jacuzzi!

i'll try to start with pluses: one friendly manager (eve) - the other, very aloof; good location
the negatives: unclean, housekeeping unacceptable, tiny rooms, poor breakfast, noisy.

this place was very poor for the price.
i highly un-recommend.
if you are going to pay 1000 baht book the bodhi serene across the street for nearly double but way better. it was out of our price range though.

The Anoma is an oasis surrounded by cheap and nasty guest houses. The location is far enough from the Sunday markets to avoid the noise, yet close enough to lug all your shopping back! I stayed in 2 different types of rooms, the suite and a standard. Both were great for the price. The hot water was a little unpredicable in the suite but it wasn't the end of the world. The standard room didn't have an english TV channel, but I didn't come to Thailand to watch TV!! The only real negative is the lighting at night is not great, making it difficult to read a book.
The staff were amazing........everyone was so helpful. My friend got sick and they helped out with finding a doctor open late at night. They did not push tours and they spoke perfect english. They were also great supporters of Elephant Nature Park, which is a great elephant experience thatI highly recommend. I have stayed in 4 different hotels in Chiang Mai and this is the only one I will be returning to, for sure. The jaccuzi is awesome too!!

We were in Chiang Mai and stayed here on 12/5/2010 - 14/5/2010.
Staff - very friendly and always with a smile. Annie speaks fluent english - this is important. She helped us to arrange our trip every day and even helped us to call the other hotel and asked them to pick us up from their place as we stayed in another hotel in Chiang Mai for another 2 nights after our stay in Anoma.
Room - quite spacious and I love their furniture used in the room! The wooden bed frame is just lovely. Most important - the room, in fact, the whole of Anoma is very, very clean. Really worth the money we spent as we went during the low season and so we got a good deal from them. 1000Baht including breakfast.
Just a little note - perhaps Anoma can consider to give the guests a paper with direction written in Thai - so we can show to the tuk tuk driver as Anoma is still new. A lot of tuk tuk driver that we met, don't know where is this hotel ...
Over all, this is a great place to stay.

This place was fabulous. We stayed here for 4 nights on our trip through Thailand. I felt like I had arrived in Thailand when we reached this Lanna-style boutique house. There is only 15 rooms in the place so its very quiet to sleep in while being close to everything in Old City. We could walk to the temples and plenty of restaurants, a tuk tuk to the Night Bazaar was 5 minutes away and the family who runs this place is just wonderful. The only negative was that they turn the lit up sign out at night so the tuk tuk drivers have a hard time finding it (its new!) and there's no pool. Take a brochure with you so you have a little map when you head out for the night. This is a perfect place to stay!!!

I spent 7 days at this hotel and enjoyed every one of them. Besides having a wonderful decor and excellent service it has a very central location. The Anoma is situated between the Saturday Walking Street market and the Sunday Walking Street market. (Both of these markets should not be missed.) It's in the old quarter so there are loads of restaurants, pubs and shopping within a short walking distance. A few minutes away and your walking through a choice of ancient temples. It's a 20 minute walk to the Night Bazaar. This added distance is very good because the Night Bazaar area is way too touristy.

The hotel is fairly new, I would guess no more then 6 months old. It still has that wonderful fresh and clean feel to it. The owner (Annie) personally runs the hotel on a day to day basis. She was very helpful when I needed a go between to complete an order for some custom made materials I was importing back to my home country.

I am usually more critical when I review hotels. There is always something that can be improved even when a hotel is near perfect. The Amona was flawless when compared to any hotel I have stayed at in this price range.

Inside the walls in the old City. Great location 3 blocks from the Sunday night market, 3 block from the Sat. night market. Great coffee cafe and restaurant serving great food! Eve manager was such a great help with everything we did. Nice roof top patio with hot tub. Cool room decor, newer. Free Wifi, fish spa for hand., Everything nearby. Price is right. Would stay here again for sure. Best stay in Thailand! Did have hard beds but had beds everywhere in Thailand.
