“Nice place with very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Very nice and remotly located resort. Has 2 very nice (salt) water pools. Every night there is an 8 o'clock shuttle going to the night, sunday or saturday market. This is needed as the place is located near the trainstation, which is not close the the city center.

Restaurant and massages are very nice. Staff is very friendly and helpfull in arranging any request / excursion to the fullest. The rooms are OK for thai standards, but need to be renewed desperatly. Bathrooms are old and worn out. No maintanence at all. Beds are okay to sleep in, but also bit old. The foto's on the website are nothing compared to the rooms themselves. I think it is a shame as it gives people a false impression. Normally the rooms are always photographed when they are new, but this is really off to what you get.

Anyway as the place is very friendly, nice pools, restaurant and staff. I give it higher points. They should do something about the rooms or the photographs. Anyway, we had a great time here and would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here for three nights in July and it represented decent value for money. £20 a night got us a nice room, buffet-style breakfast, access to a swimming pool, and very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is nicely decorated too. The only downsides were the sulphurous smell in our room when we'd been out all day and the location of the hotel. It's a bit far out of town, so I'd definitely recommend renting a car or bike whilst you're there.

The photos on trip advisor make this place look amazing, but don't be fooled - someone spent A LOT of time on PhotoShop!! The rooms are tiny, and so dark that even with all the lights on you can hardly read. Ours was also dirty and needed painting. We were really disappointed but had prepaid so had to stay, otherwise we would definitely have moved. I felt really decieved as their advert made the place look so nice.

The hotel is located close to the train station but quite a long way from town. The hotel provide a free shuttle to the night market at 8pm but otherwise it costs about 100B to get into town.

They charge a lot for extras - 700B for washing a few t-shirts, 160B for a short phone call, Internet in lobby is 60B hour where in many other hotels it is free for guests.

However, the staff were friendly & helpful, and the food in the restaurant was some of the best I've had in Thailand.

Enjoyed our 10 nights here, relaxing after a month in Burma. The room was adequate and serviced quite well. The front house staff very courteous and tried to be attentive where they could. With 2 swimming pools and reasonably decent room service food it made for some nice days soaking up the sun. Our only real issue was that the breakfast was very very very ordinary and exactly the same thing every day on offer and the bread was awful. As you can imagine after a few days this becomes very tiresome. Some days we took ourselves off to a cafe or the like just to break it up - we also took ourselves off to the Big C supermarket and bought some weetbix, peanut butter and some decent bread and basically made our own breakfasts of a morning for the last 4 days.
The hotel offers a free shuttled into the night bazaar every evening at 8pm which is a little late if you are wanting dinner and a look around. If you want to go at any other time "Mr Lucky" is happy to take you in for 100Baht.... only thing, Mr Lucky tries to be "Mr Greedy" at times. He charged us an extra 100Baht because one night we wanted to be dropped at the South Gate for the saturday night markets instead of the Tharabar gate. We ended up renting Pushbikes to curb our costs for our travels in and out of the town.
As far as the hotel goes - would recommend the Rainforest Boutique Hotel as a good place to stay for 3-7 days.

Rooms are nothing like the photos on trip advisor - poor lighting and the only natural light was through a small door that looked directly out into the busy restaurant in our case. The hallways are very dark, even if they've decided to turn the lights on.
The bathroom was pretty grotty - the shower curtain was covered in mould and soap scum and the rest of it could have done with a good clean. Rest of the room was fine though.
Most extras are charged out at a high rate - cost us 700 baht to get a supermarket bag worth of washing done! And they never returned one of my tops which I didn't realise until we had left town.
All that being said, the staff were very friendly and the restaurant had excellent food. They also offer a free shuttle to the night markets and train station.
However, I wouldn't stay here again.

We booked three nights during our trip around Thailand. The room in the "business" part of the hotel looked OK, but when going to sleep we found kultiple brown and red stains in the sheets....The staff responded immedeately by giving us another room. The next morning they apologized, offered us a free airport transfer and a discount upgrade to one of the "boutique rooms". These are absolutely great! Though the beds are somewhat hard we ended up staying six nights! The rooms was very close to one of the hotel's two saltwater swimming pools and the restaurant. The basic, but good, food can be served directly to the pool.
Please note that the hotel is not in the city center so you'll have to rely on a taxi/red car/ tuk tuk to get in and out of town. One way price should never be more than 100 THB.
The hotel manager clearly understands the hospitality business and knows how to handle a complaint and bend it 180 degrees around...

Room Tip: Always choose the Boutique building and bargain for a good price. These rooms are much better value!

We have just had three nights here. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms, we had a family room, were perfect for our needs. The food was good and not just the one pool, but two. The kids had a ball (4 and 2 years old)!

Room Tip: The family room was a joining double and twin.
