“Good for the price, but avoid going in April”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

We stayed here in April and found it be a bargain. We stayed for 3 nights in a fan room for 350 Baht and found it to be clean, comfortable and what you'd expect for the price. It's relatively close to walking street and is a good base for going anywhere.

The owner is also very friendly and helpful. He helped arrange tickets to Pai for us and can help with a lot more.

The only drawback is that in April this place gets seriously hot. It may be better in an AC room, but this seemed to be hotter than any other fan room we stayed in. As it got to 45C outside, it's understandable, but this place seemed to feel hotter than anywhere else in the city.

Rooms are well dark and they dont clean them even after 7 days. Don't you dare to ask for a fresh towel, it's only one for you whole stay.
Take care if you book any activity with them, they will offer you free nights at the hostel for the day after your activity; in first place the activities weren't as they told us and they even wanted to charge us for the free room. You have many guesthouse a in Chiang Mai therefore choose an other one. We go to Chiang Mai every year and we never had that experience. There I met the first rude Thai in my life, that's the woman who run this place.

Not sure if this is the same guesthouse that I stayed at - the address listed is different. I stayed at Siri Guest House, 31/3 Soi 5, Th Moon Muang.

I liked this guest house a lot because of the location. A few blocks from the East Gate. Very close to an internet cafe (10 baht per hour) - (go to the one Th. Ratchaphakhinai road), 7-11 convenience store, and one block from "on the road books" (which is a very good used bookstore, great selection).

The guest house itself is quiet and well kept. I recommend it for down time or a relaxing evening. It's not a very social guest house as there is not any common space. My room had a fan, bathroom and full size bed for 400 baht. Good value, great location.

We stayed here 5 nights and only paid 400B for a large room with a/c and hot shower. The rooms were nicely decorated and the furniture was good quality. The owner Jin was the best, getting us discount on the trips we wanted to do and giving us a map of the area and the best places to go. He remembered us by name which was a nice touch and made us feel very welcomed in Chiang Mai. Would definitely go back and highly recommend. Can't go wrong at £8 a night.

well.....reserved the room by phone from bangkok, the day before arrival....
double fan room,no worries he said....
train was way late,so rang him again the day of arrival saying, train delayed....no worries, thanks for the call....
arrived there after being dropped off by a tuk-tuk a long way from the guesthouse,so was tired when we walked in the gate...hello there, but no double room, only twin.....
could not believe it after reserving it....
look at the room, maybe the beds can be put together, but not really...
was very dissapointed....
anyways, wandered around for another hour looking at dismal places until i found "yourhouse3,not that far away from siri...
got a great discount on a new place, with a new mattress and bath, yes bath and big room, with cable tv and fridge plus wifi all for 400baht a night, stay 5 nights....
thats my story on siri and now yourhouse3...

At first sight, this guesthouse looks like just another cheapie one. It's indeed cheap (300 TB for a room with a fan, 500 with AC), but rooms are also well-furnished and relatively decorated, clean, and the place is perfectly located. But what makes the huge difference is the kindness of Jin, the owner! He has been really helpful in giving some tips for activities, bus booking, etc. He remembers every guest's name and has a special attention for you.
He even let me check out at 8pm instead of 11am because why bus was leaving in the evening, and charged me only half the regular price.
It's definitely not the fanciest place in town, but if you're traveling on a tight budget, don't think twice :)

I used to live in Chiang Mai, and when I come back to visit, I always stay at Siri. It's very clean, safe, comfortable, has excellent staff, and NO ONE pushed treks on you (though Jim is very happy to help arrange one) or kicks you out because you haven't signed up on commission-granting activities.

Five stars all the way. Cheap, Clean, Comfortable, Safe, Near everything!
