“Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

I generally base my review of hotels using a combination of amenities and locations (I think service quality is subjective). This hotel gets both just right. You could not ask for a better location to explore Chiang Mai. You are within walking distance of all the major sites, shopping and eating. Having a Starbucks across the street is a plus as well. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable, with great views. The infinity pool on the fourth floor was a great way to cool off in the afternoon.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Probabably the biggest, newest, most corporate property in the city, and it is flushed facilities and packed with charming staff. But there is a but. In a 5 star property with fully 5 star prices I would not expect a notice telling me how much it would cost to 'add the room slippers to my permanent collection', nor would I expect to have to wave to the staff three times to obtain coffee at breakfast, twice out of four mornings. The breakfast is extensive but somehow unappetizing. 'Croquet Madame with a Twist' left to vitrify under the lights, although I'm sure new would have been available, eventually. The rooms are light and clean though the level of finishing is understandably provincial, ceramics, not stone, paint on the walls not the exoticism we are spoiled with in the capital. Even though we were on a 'preferred guest' floor there is no turn down services, and amenities such as shaving and sewing kits are only delivered on request. Petty I know but if the description promises a standard it should deliver. Lots of bottled water, and really lovely front of house staff though.
If you come expecting the sensational experience Le Meridien have created for us in Bkk I,m afraid you'll be disappointed otherwise perfectly ok for four and a bit stars.

Room Tip: Upper floors facing the city

Nice room, average size. Excellent location, right next to the night market. Also there is a burger king and mcdonalds right next door for emergencies!
Does not have free wifi, but there is a cheap internet cafe next door which also does laundry too.
Breakfast was very good, extensive selection.
The spa was really good, we had a couples massage in a really nice serene treatment room
Overall very comfortable stay and I would definitely return here

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

We (two adults and one 3-year old child) stayed at Le Meridien for five nights in May 2013. We had a Deluxe Room with a mountain view. The room was modern and comfortable on the overall. As we were three, persons the sofa was converted into a sofa bed, which worked very well. The staff at the hotel were very attentive and courteous, and they responded quickly to all our requests. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which was included in the room rate. And we found the location, right next to the night market, to be a big plus.

Although we were happy with our stay, there were some minor issues that prevent us from giving the hotel a top rating. In the breakfast area in the lobby, you cannot help but notice that there are quite a few mosquitoes flying around. The hotel has installed equipment to try to address this, but the problem has not gone away. The restrooms on the lobby level are particularly affected by mosquitoes, and it may well be that it is here that the core of the problem is found. Either way, it distracted from what was an otherwise great breakfast buffet.

After checking in at the hotel, we received an e-mail from Starwood and realized that the receptionist had signed us up for membership in the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) programme. We found this odd, as the receptionist did not ask us whether we wanted to join the programme. In fact, we were already members of the SPG, but forgot to mention this at check-in. Be that as it may, we feel that it is inappropriate to sign guests up for the SPG without asking them first. When I told the receptionist, she said that because the e-mail address we provided at check-in was not linked to an SPG account, she assumed that we were not members, and thus signed us up.

Finally, as a family with small children, we would have been very happy if there had been a kids' club or playroom at the hotel. However, it looked like most of the other guests were business travelers, so this may not be a high priority.

Aside from the minor issues mentioned above, we had a very nice stay and would be happy to come back.

This is a lovely hotel with generally great staff. Unfortunately I was there on a business trip at the same time as a Asian summit and the hotels were packed with so called VIPs with lots of security. I was literally manhandled a few times across the parking lot and into a side door. No warning was given that there would be issues or to avoid the hotel or how to even get in and out of the hotel when the main doors were roped off. Otherwise a pleasant stay and would return

This hotel is very good with its location, in the middle of the night baazar, close to many restaurant and market! The rooms were of decent size and give a very nice view of Chiang Mai and the surrounding mountain;)

Lobby- Modern lobby with sofa and nice design, you wont feel you are in Thailand but its a nice change. Staff at the front desk are helpful and nice, but since its a business hotel they dont follow you up which is ok for me;) Nothing much in the lobby.

Hotel- Le meridien CM is located in a very convinent area, right in the middle of the night baazar, close to nearby market like wororot, pratoo and even the walking street market;) You wont starve even during midnight as theres 24hr BK and Macdonald just across the street. The hotel doesnt provide any shuttle to anywhere, so if you feel like having street food go to Pratoo market which is about 10min drive and its only 80b for 4 person in a songthaw;) Le Meridien Hotel is very tall so if you stay high enough or if your a SPG member you are guarantee a room on lvl 14-19 which is for SPG guest, you will see far enough and all the mountains surrounding Chiang Mai. The pool is nice and the pool attendant serve you with a smile, its open till 9pm but its abit too small. Staff is nice enough to give me a late checkout till 2pm even when the hotel is almost full;)

Restaurant- Didnt eat in any of the restaurant as theres many cheap offer avaliable all around the hotel.

Room- I booked a deluxe city view room and the view is just as great as the mountain view, I can see all the surrounding mountain and the busy night life of Chiang Mai. Room itself is nice with 6 bottles of water, huge sofa with lots of space to store all your bargain products from the night baazar and good selection of TV channel. Also the sunrise is gorgeous with the mountain as the background, however for sunset the mountain view room wins as the sun set behind the magnificent Doi Suthep mountain, but you can still see the sunset from the pool area on the 4th flr.;) Only bad thing is the City View room is block by the ugly and old Royal Lanna Hotel right infront of you...
Overall I really enjoy my stay in LMCM, but please stay away from the night baazar if possible, its cater purely to rip off tourist, warorot market is much better even at night and the same shoe I bought in night baazar is 300B cheaper at warorot...Most of the Songthaw will charge you for 20B pp with 4 adult and they wont take other people, its cheaper compare to tuktuk which charge 100B for 2 adult...If location is your primary concern, stay in LMCM.;)

Room Tip: Request for higher floor to get a sweeping view of Chiang Mai.
