“Great Location and a Relaxing Hideaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We found Pak Chiang Mai through trip advisor, and was not dissaponted. The staff was friendly and accomodating, we booked tours through them and they were good value. Within walking distance to the night market. We enjoyed being inside the walled city, it help us from becoming lost.
The room and the overal accomodations were not dissapointing they were just as pictured, and the common areas/court yard were beautiful and great places to relax. The foot massge after a long day of walking WAS AMAZING, done right in the common area, and a great relaxing experience.
The food was good, breakfast was fresh and the selection was good, we had our first Authentic Thai meal right there after a long day tour. They allowed us to pick our choices from the menu and go to our room to freshen up, and then the food was ready for us when we came down, and we had a fantastic selection of food from tom yum, pad thai, and a selection of curry sauces that were all fantastic. I would highly reccomend this after a long day.
We would like to Thank Noon, O and the girls, and we would love to come back some day.

PS, just like everywhere in Thailand do not trust over freindly trangers on the street. A gentleman approached us asked us where we were from and offered us tips of "advice" he told us that hotels were rip offs for tours, and he reccomened the Tourist travel information center, and said that they were the best value and we would save money and were regulated by the government, it happened to be just around the corner so we stopped in and checked them out, their prices were about 200baht more than the guest house, and when i said we would think about it, because we were being polite, they told us we had to make a decision and they were closing in 15 min and closed tomorrow... so we left. Booking at your accomdation has advantages, you pay them and they arrange all the pickup etc. Everybody makes money on the tours, i suggest you look after the people that are looking after you.

Room Tip: We booked the suite, and had them add a bed for an extra person the extra bed was not very comfortab...

We stayed at Pak Chiang Mai in January 2013. We wanted somewhere that would comfortably house the four of us (two adults and two kids - 7&9), and which was inside the old city walls.

Pak is a green oasis in the heart of Chiang Mai. Nestled behind a large well, it's unassuming and understated from the outside. But step inside the gate and you're greeted by a pretty and serene garden and O, the most welcoming of hosts.

We stay on the second floor in a suite. It's huge inside and has a covered outdoor bathroom. We share a massive king-sized bed and the kids each get a single bed. It also has a small balcony/courtyard style area that adjoins the room (I sat out there every afternoon and drank a cold beer and watched squirrels and birds in the surrounding trees.)

Location wise, Pak is perfect. A 1 minute stroll to the west brings you out onto Bumrung Buri - which comes alive at night with excellent food stalls. I can recommend spending time eating around here. It also means you'll find a tuk-tuk, taxi or songthaew in seconds.

Breakfast was included and I sat down to it each day because it was so authentic. They would bring out so many courses, so if you order something expect to get a whole lot of stuff you didn't order (usually some fresh fruit, a glass of water, a glass of fresh juice and then some traditional Thai sweat breakfast dish, like Khao Tom Mud). I didn't eat here for any other meals - we just walked the streets looking for something.

I think what I loved most about Pak (apart from the incredibly nice hosts) was the fact that after a day of hitting the pavement in the dust and heat, you could return to this peaceful haven. Great value, incredibly clean and just a wonderful place to stay.

Room Tip: If you have kids, go for a suite on the second floor. There was heaps of space, a computer with free...

Couple of friends and I stayed at Pak Chiang Mai in Feb-2013. The rooms were super clean and cozy. The atmosphere itself was peaceful and beautifully decorated. Wifi and computers are available free of charge. Breakfast was included and it was truly delicious. The location is exceptional.. just a 5 minute walk to the open-market and temples. All staff was very attentive and helpful=) Love .. love the old school Mercedes.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Pak Chang Mai for two nights in Feb-March. It was by far the nicest guest house/accommodation we stayed in in Thailand. O and the Pak Family were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The room was super clean, spacious and welcoming. We went trekking between our two night stay and they offered to keep our extra luggage for us while we hiked. Our same comfortable room was waiting for us upon our return, along with a nice welcome note, treats and tea. The beautiful entrance and lounge area was a peaceful respite from busy Chang Mai and definitely something to look forward to at the end of a hectic day of touring. Breakfast was wonderful. They were very helpful in arranging transportation to the airport. Pak Chang Mai is definitely very good value for the money and a must stay spot in Chang Mai. Thank you for such a lovely experience!!

This place offers great value for money and is a wonderful home base for a trip to Chiang Mai. Once you walk through the gate, you feel as though you have stepped into a little slice of heaven. The property houses a lovely pond and garden. It has a lovely area where you can relax, get a massage, read, listen to music (they have CD players in every room and a bunch CDs for you to choose from PLUS a CD player in the communal area). There are two computers available for your use (as well as free WIFI through out the hotel) as well as an assortment of Thailand travel books in all languages.

The rooms are all very comfortable. We ended up staying in three different rooms (due to our planning and had nothing to do with their booking system) and we liked them all.

The breakfasts were healthy and plentiful. It was a really nice way to start our days.

The property is one minute away from a daily night market. It offers some really great street food (and desserts!)

Every place the staff suggested to us (restaurants, massage, cooking classes) turned out to be excellent. Thanks to O and all the staff at Pak Chiang Mai for a wonderful experience!

I booked a room at Pak Chiang Mai based entirely on other people reviews on the internet. I didn’t regret it at all. This was one of the best stays I had during my 45days trip in SE Asia and I would definitely recommend it to friends. The staff is very friendly and ready to assist you in any way they can. The hotel is just across the area where the Saturday Night Market takes place.

One of the best parts of my staying was the transport to the airport (200THB) with a 1960 (?) Mercedes. Pure class…

We stayed here in 2009 on our honeymoon and had a wondeerful experience. it's more like staying in a lovely house with lovely hosts who take care of you as family.

The hosts were extremely helpful in making our stay in Chiang Mai brilliant and the rooms were quaint and homely.

overall, would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you are looking for home like comforts.
