“Great oasis in a wonderful city.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2011

Not at all corporate as lonely planet describes it- anything but! Contemporary and chic with no piped music. Great rooms and very hospitable staff. Central position near to all the sights and plenty of cheap eateries.

Stayed at U Chiang Mai in November 2011 and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is in an ideal location in the middle of the old town. It's a very nice hotel with great rooms, nice pool area and good breakfast options. The staff are so nice and friendly and made this a wonderful experience.

U Chiang Mai provides amazing levels of service and convenience for travelers - their unique 24-hour policy (check-out time is the same as your check-in time) combined with their commitment to service combine for a great experience. Smack dab in the middle of the Old City, UCM is a great base camp with tons of frills for exploring Chiang Mai. Right on top of the huge walking market and close by to many great sights. A nice, sleek and affordable alternative to the gazillion backpacker hostels in the city.

Room Tip: Top (3rd) floor, courtyard-facing rooms combine quiet with great views. No elevators, tho!

We went for 3 nights (17-20/11/2011) as part of our honeymoon.
Great welcoming. It is a great small boutique hotel in the middle of the old town. Everything is within walking distance. The room was nice and cozy by the pool. There is a very handy 24 hour breakfast at a location of your choice. Great staff.
Amazing stay.

We stayed at U Chiang Mai in September 2011. There was something quite wonderful about a dip in the very private swimming pool, 3 steps from our door, at the end of a hot day. The room was spacious, bright and full of charm, comfy, all built around an old historic building. The staff were friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Well located, with great food in the restaurant, if a bit pricy, we highly recommend the hotel.
Jane Dean, Ontario, Canada

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor with access to the delightful swimming pool.

We can only reiterate the positive comments below regarding location, quality etc.

What a fantastic place to relax and chill. Without exception the staff were absolutely brilliant. The general manager chatted with us on regular occasions and was a great wealth of local knowledge. The reception team just couldn't be better organising trips, seeing to our every need. The service team were excellent, again seeing efficiently and friendly to our needs.

The U owners should be proud to have such a professional group of people and hope that they are truly valued as they are a major asset of the hotel.

We stayed in a ground floor deluxe room right by the poolside. It was brilliant being able to relax and eat our breakfast just outside of our room. The room was well proportioned and every thing that should have worked did so.

We could go on with more plaudits but are concerned that this hotel will be booked up when we plan to return next year!!

Thank U U for a great stay.

Frank and Liz
