“Rude Western Owner; Disappointing Visit; No hot water”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

Unpleasant place to stay. Disappointing after reading favorable reviews. Immediately upon arrival, the Western owner was quite cold, while his Thai co-owner was kind and seemed to try to compensate for the conspicuous rudeness of his companion.

If you are among the favored (and I've heard different interesting theories for his favoritism), then I suppose this is a nice place to stay, although nothing extraordinary. Otherwise, you will be made to feel as though you are unwelcome. I had constant shower problems with no hot water and delays in getting it repaired.

PJ's place was more than I expected. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing and friendly. Breakfast made me feel like I was in a 5-star restaurant! They provided us with EXCELLENT tours and willingly customized tours and activities we wanted to do. We easily walked to shopping, swimming and access to other things we wanted to do on our own. If I could rate it higher that excellent I would. I will definitely stay there again. Thank You P&J!!

I was happy to have a peaceful place to stay since Chiang Mai is a bit loud and crazy. The hosts are very helpful with touristy things and setting up tours. The location is only ok as most of the stuff I wanted to do was a good 45 minute walk via heavily trafficked roads laden with diesel fumes and car exhaust.
My bed was rock hard which is pretty consistent in Thailand be forewarned. Breakfast and services were perfect. Excellent resource for the LGBT traveller as well.

Room Tip: Try an upstairs room to lessen foot noise overhead

For the price, you cannot beat PJ's place, a gay friendly B&B in Chiang Mai. The $50 a night rate includes a nice room, a great breakfast, airport transfers, and tax! The staff is friendly. The location is not perfect, a bit of a walk to the main street. The rooms are fine but not of five star excellence. The garden is a delight and very relaxing. All in all, a five circle rating since Chiang Mai has few better places.

I don't think I can add to what other travellers have said about PJ's Place. All of it is true. It is located about 20 minutes' walk from Chiang Mai old city. There are food outlets and a shopping centre nearby.Although located on a side lane off a main road the place was amazingly quiet and peaceful. The hosts/owners were friendly and very helpful. Had a great holiday there.

I have stayed in many hotels in Chiang Maim but after staying at PJs I will always return there. It is a small Botique Hotel with only 6 rooms and a suite. It was immaculate and the pwners were most helpfiul and friendly It is situated in the centre of town a few minutes walk away from The main shopping mall. A English breakfast is also provided.

Truly an oasis in Chiang Mai. I stayed in both accommodation levels, De-luxe double and Luxury suite. The suite was so nice I had to remind myself each day that I was in Chiang Mai to see the city and not stay inside a fantastic room. The owners are the best reason to stay at PJ’s Place. They insure that guests needs are met, from airport pickup and drop-off to providing advice on things to see and do. All done with sensitivity to what the guest wants. They provide travel services and more, just ask. Nothing is pushed on you. Breakfast is cooked to order daily. The rooms and grounds are kept in perfect shape, everything is in its place. The rooms are spotlessly clean. Free wireless internet access in rooms. They also had a computer in the lobby for guest internet access. Located on a quiet Soi just a short walk to a big shopping mall. There is a beautiful garden all around the place, with lounges and chairs to relax outside. The smell of the flowers was just wonderful. I highly recommend PJ’s Place to anyone want a nice place to stay in Chiang Mai.
