The Safe House Court was a real nice surprise. We booked it during the busy Loi Krathong Festival, where our other original picks were all booked out. It ended up being much nicer than our original picks which we later checked out, with a spacious corridor and balcony between all rooms. The other hotels seemed to be crampier on busy streets with hardly any main entrance.
The restaurant is cozy and delicious, with fair prices. It is run by the family - a friendly bartender who works with his wife.
The guesthouse includes laundry (do yourself or hand in), and the rooms have AC, TV, wifi, a large wardrobe, sitting area with table and chairs, hot water shower, and a fridge. What more could you need?
The location is ideal, 5 minutes walk to major wats, and attractions in the centre of town. The night market was about 3-5 minutes away. Across the street is the expensive and beautiful Tamarind Village hotel. You do hear the monks chanting early in the morning if you are a light sleeper, but it is a peaceful stay.
The owner and travel booking manager, Yo, is sincere and genuinely helpful. He suggested a cooking course and elephant park (ElephantNaturePark.org) which we found out gave him no commission, and always attends to any questions we have immediately with thorough information and a smile. Another guesthouse we spoke to about tours lied about the park and said it was booked out for 2 weeks because the park didn`t offer commission for booking.
If you are looking for a nice guesthouse stay in central Chiang Mai this should be your first choice!!
