“Good value, good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

This hotel is well located, well priced, and well run, and the breakfast is adequate and plentiful. The ladies at the front desk are friendly, very helpful and at least one speaks excellent English and is whip smart.
There is an excellent western grocery store behind the 7/11, approximately 2 min. walk And wonderful, wonderful, a massage establishment approximately 1 min.walk, where they understand
sign language to indicate what you want-- and some speak a bit of English. Most 1 hr. treatments cost 150 Baht. Walk out the door of Riverside, turn left.
The only reason this is not an "excellent" is because of the mattresses, which are rock hard, not lumpy, just hard--think summer camp. Also, the pool is too chlorinated, ok for plunging into after a
hot day of walking, just don't try to open your eyes underwater.
I would stay here again and recommend it to my friends

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms in new section. Light, airy, a balcony where you can dry wash and free from street noi...

If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, clean place to stay the Riverside Guest House is the place to go. The staff are very friendly and speak fluent english. They have a swimming pool, nice garden area ,coffee area and breakfast area.
The guest house is walking distance to markets, a supermarket and across the road from the the ping river.
The rooms have a fridge, tv, bathroom and are very clean

We stayed for 4 nights. The room was clean and the location was convenient. The staff is friendly and accomodating. The down side was our shower hot water heater did not work, so we had cold showers and before the stay was over the sink had a clogged drain. The breakfast is adequate, but not a lot of variety. I would give them another chance, if I go back to Chiang Mai because for the price and the location you can't get a better deal. I think we just got unlucky. :)! We were in room 316.

Very nice rooms and wonderful service. A bit far from the Songkran action at Thapae Gate but very near the Night Bazaar, with plenty of of great restaurants and bars and shopping. The staff were great and very helpful, explaining to us how to get around during the crazy Songkran time. We'll be staying here next time we're in Chiang Mai!

I have been here for 6 days with another 5 days to go
I have enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back.
The whole staff are friendly and helpful.
I enjoy the pool for my water exercises.
It is so relaxing atmosphere.
I would have no problems recommending to anyone to use the Guesthouse.

Room Tip: The new room at the rear of the building are just like new. After still a quite few years in servic...

During our stay in Chiang Mai, we happened to come across this place. Located near Maeping River, Riverside House is 10 mins walking distance away from the night bazaar. Great value for money. Rooms are pretty spacious and our room had a balcony overlooking the river. Extremely friendly staff and since they are quiet fluent in English, language was not an issue.

We had a very nice room in the new section at the back of the complex. There was a balcony with table and chairs overlooking the tropical garden which was a nice place to relax at the end of the day with an iced coffee or fruit shake which they have available all day at a reasonable cost. There is a small pool with not much seating available. The breakfast that was included consisted of coffee/tea, bread, cereal and fruit, but you could order eggs for 25 THB. The location was good, near the night market and about 15-20 minutes walk to the old town. They also provided airport pickup for 200 THB. We really enjoyed our stay at the Riverside House.

Room Tip: The new section at the back is the nicest.
