“So good to be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

We've stayed in this hotel before, in august 2009, and we liked this place so much that we decided to go back this time! We made a reservation through their website, and this time we had to pay the full amount directly, which was not a problem. We made a reservation for 2 standard rooms, one double (1450 bath) and one double (1450 bath and 600 bath for the extra bed) with extra bed. The prices seem to have gone up with the years, so this place is not a real budget place anymore. The welcome was very warm, with a free drink. The rooms were exactly the same as the ones we had before. One extra bed was placed near the wall. The rooms seem to be a little be tired, and could use some update, like a fresh painting, and the curtains did not hang perfect anymore......The added a flatscreen tv this was new to us. And there is a free safe in the room for your convenience too!
The good and extended breakfast stayed the same, no complains about that! There were free fruits in the lounge all day, and the pool was inviting as ever. Free towels are provided at the pool area. One night we decided to have dinner here, and it was delicious!
Wifi is now available troughout the building, also in the rooms. The roof terrace seem to have disappeared, instead they have build some luxury appartments on the rooftop.
Overall we loved this place, and if we ever will return to Bangkok (which is likely) we will choose Lamphu Tree House again!
But ohh well, it was so good

This hotel is a little off the beaten track - when the cab driver dropped us off I thought he was leaving us in the middle of nowhere (having never been to Bangkok before). But what a surprise - on a side street on the canal - a very lovely hotel. We stayed in the 2nd building the first night because of delayed flights - this building is well hidden & different to get to..BUT the room we had there was excellent. We stayed in the main hotel for the remainder & that room was excellent also. The staff was excellent even though there was a bit of a language barrier. The manager was very professional and a huge help! This hotel was very good for the money - we only ate breakfast which was exceptional - cannot rate how the dinners were as we did not eat there. I recommend this hotel - it is located in area which is within walking distance of the river & Khao San Road. The pool was nice but not a lot of room to lay out in the sun if that is what you want to do - but there are so many other things to do why would you want to!!!

Room Tip: I would choose the main hotel - although the rooms in the other area were nice - it was just a dista...

We chose to stay here as a break from hostels and backpackers and it's very nice. It's a great location and the staff are great. The free breakfast is excellent and has a choice of Western and Asian food. The swimming pool is nice as well. We left a suitcase with two computers and other valuables in their luggage storage for almost two months and everything was just as we left it when we returned. Compared to the rest of South Asia the value for money is ok, but it is Bangkok and you get what you pay for - overall, I would recommend staying here if you want somewhere comfortable and clean.

Stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time, The location is perfect and away form noisy Bangkom streets. The room was clean and quiet. The pool is a big plus after a hot sunny day of sight seeing. Breakfest was good and the staff was very helpful. We would stay here again !

Room Tip: Pool view room.

Although its rates are that of a mid-ranger, you definitely get above average bang for your buck in this hotel. The staff speaks reasonable English and are friendly, its kitchen serves simple but delicious Thai dishes (not to mention a very good and varied breakfast buffet!) and the outside area at the pool allow for a great place to wind down if hectic Bangkok gets too much. Rooms are simple but clean. It's location is far enough from the Kao San Road area to find some rest, but close enough (about a 10 minute walk) to enjoy it. If I had to nitpick, only annoying thing was that the WiFi is not very reliable on all floors.

The hotel is somewhat off the main road and therefore difficult to find, but the advantage is that it's a peaceful place in busy Bangkok. The room is nicely decorated, but small. The view isn't that nice. The breakfast is very nice as well as the swimming pool although it's small. The staff was helpful but a bit distant. For us it was a good start of our holiday and we would recommend it!

For us this is the perfect Bangkok hotel. You are in the heart of a 'real' part of the city, far enough away to Khao San Rd if you want to avoid it, but close enough if you don't. The rooms are comfortable and clean and come with a nice view. The roof toop bar and pool (on ground level) are a nice addition. Just book early!

Room Tip: Book ahead to avoid having to go elsewhere!
