“A Little Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

Lovely small hotel. Very clean and decent sized rooms. Great buffet breakfast included. Nice roof terrace for a quiet early evening drink. Not far to Khao San Road for some people watching evening entertainment and excellent choice of street stalls selling food. Staff very helpful and friendly and even a swimming pool if you wanted to cool off after a day out.

Very nice hotel with large rooms, good location (just 10 minutes walk from Kao Shan Road, and 20 from the temples), in a quiet hiden street, very good buffet-breakfast just next to the swimming pool. Good quality for its price. This is the main building, they have another one near but not besides the swimming pool and restaurant, a little bit dissapointed with that. Ask when you make your booking. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here another time.

Loved the location-walking distance to old city, all temples, market, river, great food and hidden little streets. Get a taste of what BKK is like (including traffic, smell, pollution).
Rooms-large, comfortable rooms, nice view of neighbourhood.
Service-fantastic breakfast, nice to have bananas in the lobby all the time. Great patio and pool. Restaurant food is great, 2 or 3 times the price of street food, but still cheap ($4 for a meal).
It is on the canal, can be smelly as you walk along the water. We also saw a few lizards on the other side of the water, one of them was almost 2m long (7 ft)....might be scary to see at night.
Didn't mind the lizard, it was part of the whole experience, which at this hotel was excellent!

The location is very good - its a quiet place but also close to the khao san, etc. The service is ok, the rooms are small but clean. Internet is very bad except the area of the lobby, practically not usable, which is downside if you need to check emails, etc. There is a pool which is nice, but the water is terribly cold (the pool are is always in a shadow) so kids can swim five ten minutes max. The area around the pools is also very smelly from time to time. Its a good hotel if you dont plan to spend much time in it, which is ok for most visits to bangkok in my opinion.

Pros: super quiet, clean, comfortable, fan, a/c, good food, friendly staff, reasonable price for Bangkok, family-friendly, small pool, garden common area, not a party crowd
Con: not close to public transportation, 45 minutes from airport at midnight, but easy to get taxis and only a 20-30 minute walk from Wat Po.
Lamphu is a nice oasis on the edge of chaotic Bangkok. My deluxe room in the second building was the same price (1650 baht ~ $55 US) as the standard room in the old building but newer, about two blocks up the canal. Breakfast buffet is very good and plentiful, mostly western with some Thai choices like coconut sticky rice, perfect any time of day. Good fresh fruit and coffee. The red and green curries were also very good. Definitely print out a map before leaving home if possible, it's a bit hidden and taxi drivers won't know the street name. Look for Phachathipathai Road and Phra Sumen Road, just north of the Wat Chan bridge and down the canal walkway. It's about 3 blocks north of the Democracy Monument.

Room Tip: My deluxe room on the 6th (top) floor in the second building had a view of tin rooftops, I think the...

Likely one of the best values in Bangkok. Great service, outstanding breakfast buffet and good quality rooms for a very reasonable (TBHT1800) price. We stayed here last year and would use the Treehouse as our base for any future Bangkok visits. You must try the banana pancakes. A quick walk to the Lamphu restaurant and bar area.

Room Tip: If you can, get a room at the back of the hotel and pool side. Quiet and protected from the sun.

The hotel is in a fairly quiet residential area just a short walk from the river and Kao San Road and the river. The room was a bit cramped with the extra bed we had for our son, but was clean and well fitted out. The bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished. The pool was great, the buffet breakfast was top notch and overall it is a very pleasant and convenient place use as a base for seeing all that Bangkok has to offer
