This review is for the Amorosa Restaurant, located on the first floor of the Arun Residence. My boyfriend and I came for an early dinner because we wanted to watch the sun set over Wat Arun.
We arrived around 4:45, and ordered Chang beer, prawn salad, pad thai, and green curry. Drinks and appetizers came rather quickly, and we took our time eating while enjoying the sunset. By the time 6 PM rolled around, however, our entrees still haven't arrived. At this point, we were already done with our drinks and appetizer. Our waiter never checked up on us, but we waited patiently for a bit longer. I finally called for a waiter around 6:30, and he said the food was coming right out.
The green curry with prawns was absolutely disgusting. The prawns were soft and mushy... which signifies that it's old and should not be consumed. I politely told the waiter this, and he argued with me saying that they were river prawns, which is why they taste different. I told him that the prawns that came with our salad were not mushy, and they were river prawns too. He refused to do anything about this matter, and it wasn't until I had to ask him repeatedly did he say he would go check. (My best guess is that the restaurant uses the older prawns in the curry, thinking that the curry taste would mask any unpleasant tastes associated from the prawns.)
In the end, our waiter grudgingly took the curry off our bill, but due to the terrible service, long wait for food and poor food quality, I will not return.
