“Fantastic bathroom and loved being at and near the malls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2009

Upon arrival, getting checked in was a slow process. The rooms were very comfortable and the bathroom was fantastic with a huge circular bathtub. Breakfast is not included which is a downfall. Security is very high here with keycards to even use the elevator and you can only get off at the public floors and your own floor. Very expensive to use their transportation , get them to call you a public taxi instead if you are concerned about money. Restaurants are casual dressy. The Zest bakery on the main floor is BRILLIANT! Definately have a dessert here! Enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

7 of us (5 adults and 2 children) travelled to Bangkok for a 4D3N holiday. Booked Centara Grand because it's relatively new and very good location.

Reached the hotel at 11am. The staff informed that the hotel was fully booked, so can only checked in after 2pm. So after the administrative stuff, we went to Centara World to shop (connection to the shopping mall is very convenient), just need to take the lift at the Convention centre (next to the hotel lobby on 23rd floor) to 7th floor, and go thru the carpark (15 secs walk) to the entrance of Centara World.

When we came back to the hotel for check-in, we were informed that there were no adjoining rooms.. only 2 rooms are next to each other, while the third room, they upgraded us to DLX (twin bed) which is 3 rooms away from the other 2 rooms.

The rooms were nice. One of the toilet has a circular bathtub and City view. The rooms were spacious.

During the stay, the housekeeping either forgot to give us the bottled water (the tap water is not potable) or the rooms were not made up by mid afternoon.

On the day of departure, the conceige was very inefficient also. We asked for help to bring our luggage down, but waited for close to 30 minutes and called twice, still no sight of porters. In the end, we have to bring down the luggage ourselves and dragged the kids along.

The staff on 23rd floor (service counter and conceige) do not smile, very monotonous.

The only good thing is that the buffet breakfast was not too bad.. but the 4 lifts servicing the rooms were a bit slow.. considering the kind of crowd and the number of floors it has, it should have more lifts to service the guests.. waiting time can be long when there's alot of guests around.

I stayed here in a room with a fantastic view of siam paragon and Bangkok city skyline. It was on the high floors can't remember which though but it was definitely above level 30. Anyways, reception staff are highly incompetent with checking in and out. They don't seem to be well trained and thus they provide impersonal customer service. Manager was some very rude and arrogant. Not helpful at all...I don't Thai men like being questioned by a female. The breakfast staff in world bar and the one opposite it were fantastic. Very friendly and caring. Breakfast selection was pretty good but not a fan of their yogurt. The views were hit and miss. The restaurant opposite world had views of the shanty housing complex below next to a dirty canal. Room was gorgeous but there is shoddy workmanship in the bathroom especially the vanity and the blinds did not work so it was permanently open. The nice big spa bath had a dirty non slip mat which can be a turn off. Housekeeping staff very attentive and check up on you twice a day. It was annoying because I had my do not disturb sign up yet they rang the bell. Location was okay but a little inconvenient to walk through the sky walk. Expect a 10-15 walk just to get down to the sky bridge which takes you to siam paragon. I will not stay here again. I've had better service and convenient locations at 2 star establishments.

Stayed for 3 nights before going on to Samui. When we arrived it felt like we weren't expected. After some juggling of room numbers we were given room 4201. The room felt as though it had been half serviced. No bath robes, dirty crockery and hair and dust in the bath room. I had to call house keeping but before they arrived the bell boy arrived with our cases. We pointed out the problems and he went to find someone to sort it out. Not major problems I know but the is a FIVE STAR hotel. Not what I was expecting at all. The next day I wrote a letter to the general manager and it took nearly 24 hours for a response. We were given a bottle of wine as an apology but by the time we got back to our room it was standing in a cooler of warm water and NO corkscrew to open it!! We stayed in Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur last year which is 4 star and it felt like we were the most important people there. Centara should look to them as to how to run a hotel. We just felt the service was impersonal.

The hotel itself was fine. Room size was fine, bathroom was very nice. Separate shower and bath. Tea and coffee in the room. Nice pool area and also 2 nice jacuzii's on the same floor but the other side of the building so very quiet, we had it to ourelves as I don't think people knew it was there. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The location is good. Close to the MRT and you can even walk on a sky walk way to the Siam Center and MBK shopping centres if you don't mind the heat. We did, so it is possible.

In conclusion I think the managment have taken their eye off the ball and are just depending on bookings because of the location. Staff need a bit more training, send them to Traders for a week and then they would see how it's done. Would we go back? Maybe, the location is good, but the service is weak.

The room was typical of a new hotel being smaller than some but was comfortable. The bathroom was much more impressive. The room was not ready when we checked in at 2pm which was a little annoying but service for the remainder of the stay made up for that. The location was good being at the heart of the city. The Red Sky Bar on the 55th floor was impressive with views across the city. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, something for everyone.

We stayed in the Centara for 3 nights having transfered from our Phuket hotel which had excellent service with friendly staff. We arrived at 16:00 to be informed by receotion that our requested (2 months previously) King bedded room was not ready,we asked how long we had to wait and were told to sit in reception away from the check-in desks. Some minutes later a receptionist came and said there were no King bedded rooms available and would we accept a twin room for the first night. I said that as there was no alternative we would accept. Some minutes later the receptionist came and gave me the keys, We finally got to the room to find we had a King bedded room!!. The room was small but well serviced. The Restaurant on the 24 floor (The World) provided an very good breakfast and also dinner, with excellent service. The hotel has good facilities but so it should as a 5 star, but it was impersonal and customer service at reception was poor compared with other Thailand hotels we have used.

amazing hotel centrally located in the city center within the same block as ZEN and Central World so no need to get stuck in traffic if you want to go shopping. Also a wonderful mojito at the Red55 bar on 55th floor and a nice pool area on 24th floor
