True, this hotel has what it offers, but it doesn't exactly live up to the 5-stars hotel in terms of services.
Firstly, we've asked for upgrade to executive suite, as we've done so many times in hotels in bangkok, and 99.9% of the time if they have an extra room, they do offer a free upgrade or with a very reasonable rate (likeUS$20/night).
The staff said there are rooms available but cost about 900bhat a night, and we say we'll think about it. about 10 mins later, we decided to do the upgrade since there's a good review on it. The previous staff wasn't there anymore, another staff helped me, she said it cost $1,400bhat/night. I told her what the other staff said, she replied that it was a wrong rate, it should be 1,400bhat... I told her that it's really unprofessional for a hotel to change the price just in 10 mins. She kept on continued saying they are doing some remodeling work at the executive lounge and how i can't use it until a few days later anyways so there's no need to upgrade. It's not very pleasant when you travel to bangkok, seems like everyone on the street is trying to rip you, even the hotel staff...
The decor and environment is very nice. very modern hotel. it's a pleasant to stay. however, the service is very inconsistent. One day, they will give you complimentary snacks in your room, the next day they won't. One day, they will put your bathrobe inside the closet, next day, they will put in right next to the toilet. It's the little things that doesn't live up to standard.
The breakfast is actually NOT THAT GOOD. I mean it has wide variety of food, but they pre-made everything, and food gets cold. Ingredient is not that high quality. I have had better breakfast in a 3 star hotel in Beijing, considering Pullman is a chain. The worst thing is while you are still eating at 9:55, they started to collect food, the way they handle the food I'm not going to command, it's not that hygiene if you are talking in U.S terms. but at least don't do it in front of the guests while they're still eating. And they will not let you know how long you still have for breakfast, not even the hostess, so we basically have like 30 seconds to get our food. I don't think this is the kind of service you'd expect from an international hotel.
