“Perfect place for first-time BKK travellers.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2010

We booked this hotel online from Toronto and had no problems checking in when we arrived. Staff are accommodating, rooms are clean and nice and the the breakfast buffet in the morning is decent. It is a little pushed back from the main road, but if you dont mind the extra 2minute walk, this is a great place for first time visitors. Spas, restaurants and 7/11's are just up the alley.

Would definitely go back again.

This was our second stay at the Grand Watergate in the past year. Last time we stayed in a Superior room this time I opted for a Mini Suite as we had our 2 young children travelling with us. The extra room the mini suite gave us was great as we accumulated lots of shopping during our 3 day stay. However, the mini suite also gave us the smallest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel..... Sitting on the toilet also let your toes touch the wall without even trying. This said we still enjoyed our stay. Next time though we will not be getting a mini suite.

The breakfast is pretty average, juice, tea, coffee, fried rice, 2 types of sausages, noodles, toast, salad makings and fruit. Nothing to get excited about.

We chose to stay at this hotel again this year because of the location. It is 10 mins walk to Pratunam Markets and Pantip Plaza. Skytrain about 15mins walk. If we return to Bangkok we will be sure to stay here again, due to the location. It is not a 5 star hotel so don't expect it to be, but if you are looking for good value in a great location, the Grand Watergate might be what you are looking for....

Pretty good location though a little secluded. Close walk to Platinum Plaza, Pantip Plaza etc.. Small hotel with no frills. Breakfast was a little pathetic with only a few dishes for buffet. Had to take own bottle to go downstairs to take hot water for food. Overall, was ok.

We have stayed here twice now. The first time was in May 2007 when the hotel had only been open a few weeks and they had a "soft opening" price which was unbelievably cheap! Everything brand new & I have never had such value from a Hotel.
We returned for a few days in January 2009 & as you would expect, it was looking more shabby & just a little worn at the edges. They offer breakfast now which they didn't before. The breakfast room is fine which is more than can be said of the food, although many people seemed to be getting stuck in!
I have stayed in many bangkok hotels & I really like the location of this one. There are some diverse eating places nearby with Indian, African & Thai food available.
It is a 15 minute walk to the Skytrain which is ok for us & as regular visitors will know, it can be quicker to walk anyway.
Some useful info on "Soft Openings" When searching on t'internet for a Bangkok hotel or anywhere else for that matter, just type "Soft opening hotels Bangkok" and you may just drop on a bargain. New hotels are opening all the time & many of them have opening offers. Chok Dee.
