“Does the trick!”

It was our first time to Bangkok so the whole experience was an eye opener for us anyway. It terms of value for money and the level of standards elsewhere I think the Siam meets all of your needs. The rooms could have been cleaner and they are quite small and dark (and ask for a non-smoking room if you don't smoke) but on the plus side the staff are very helpful and the restaurant has great breakfasts. In fact the dining experience at the Siam was the best thing about the Hotel. I wish we had hired a local guide to help us see the parts of the city we had read about as we found it difficult to communicate with Taxi drivers (and got ripped off a few times!) and didn't end up seeing the sights we wanted to...our only shopping was limited to MBK (which was ok - some nice Italian labels for my husband but disappointed in the women's section). We would never bother with Bangkok again but if you are planning to stay then the Siam does the trick (and we are quite fussy!).

“Funky Urban Chic...The New Thailand...”

If you would like to experience the new urban chic of Bangkok, and you're young at heart......then Siam@Siam is for you.

From the moment you step inside the hotel doors this Hotel has a certain "groove" about it, a "modern leisure"....it is different....artisitic. Behind the facade though is a well run and modern Hotel which delivers high on convenience and comfort. The rooms are well laid out (I stayed in their Leisure Room) albeit somewhat small......but not uncomfortable small.....certainly very comfortable with a great bath. The Spa and Pool are to experience, esp the Pool which virtually hangs off the mezzanine level....with a great view of the "old" Bangkok. The location is brilliant......the National Stadium opposite as is the sky train station of the same name. The shops (MBK, Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon) are all within easy reach by foot....a 5min walk and you're in the centre of it all. The breakfast menu is well thought out, not extensive however, but offers a good range of fresh product covering both western and eastern culinary delights. Hotel entertainment provided at night or over dinner is great....you can take it as easy or as fast as you like.

    • Disliked — Noisy air conditioner in room; Silly hotel charges which are not made known to you at the start

“Too Stylish??”

Stayed here for 4 days in May after 14 days in Phuket. We booked this online and it was expensive. It was all that everyone else has said about the design features and it quiet amazing and very funky. Our room was nice and looked the same as many of the other trip advisor photos.
Breaky was great usual spread for thailand, the scrambled eggs were of particular note. Only ate dinner once in the hotel and it was delicious. Great location to sky train and MBK and all the other shopping centres.
It was hot and dark and stinky on the roads near by but as my 5th time in Bankok to me this is normal and i never felt unsafe at all.
My only problem with the hotel was the lobby, you pass by the tour desk and the taxi desk on entering and i felt quiet pressured every time we passed to see them or book with them.
Other than that is was fine. I am not sure i would stay there again. But i have not real complaints at all.

“A Little Bit Different : PJM - Canberra, Australia”

Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa

May 27, 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Siam@Siam for 3 nights from 13 - 16 May 2008.
Overall we found the hotel to be quite good and a little different to your normal hotel. As stated before the room are quite minimalist and modern and this may not suit everyones taste.

We found the staff to be very accessable, efficient and courteous and we were checked in promptly after arriving from a 9 hour flight from Sydney. The pool/leisure/BBQ on the 11th floor gives a great view over Bangkok's skyline (especially at sunset) and the PartyHouse on the ground floor is a great place to go after along day in the heat to chill out with a quiet drink and listen to the live band. Breakfast is your standard Western or Oriental fare, plus a large variety of tropical fruits.

The hotel is about 250 metres from the huge MBK shopping precinct and is directly opposite the National Stadium which is a terminus for the Skytrain.

I would rate the Siam@Siam as up to 4 stars, my only real complaint being the stale smell of cigarettes which permeated through the corridors, which was especially noticable when exiting the lifts.

“"Ok" hotel but needs not great”

It was one of those hotels which I guess was ok, but for what you pay for a room you would expect a lot more and there were lots of little problems that could have made things really bad under the wrong circumstances. To start with the floor above where I was staying was being renovated which made it a bit noisy at times. NO prior warning was given about this when I booked and no discount offered.

The safe in my room was broken! Was a real pain! I got there very late from a long flight, locked some stuff in it, then remembered I needed to get something out and the safe wouldn't open again- just kept getting an error message. All credit to the staff who sent someone along as soon as they could very late at night to reopen the safe. They said it should work, but since I was a bit wiser now, I did a few test openings and lockings only to find that after a few tries it jammed again. I called them again and they said they would send someone over the next afternoon. They never got the safe working properly in the time I was there, and I couldn't use it. Nothing was stolen so it was ok, but I still thought it was annoying and slack that the safe played up so much.

Do NOT rely on these guys for a wake up call. I asked for one and never got it! Luckily I had my mobile phone with me and set the alarm on this just in case or I would have missed my flight!

The room itself was clean and comfortable although the bathtub could have been a bit cleaner- made out of little tiles which is probably not a good choise for keeping it really clean in a hotel, but yep over all clean and comfortable. They provided 2 bottles of drinking water a day which was nice. They had a resturant on site which made very nice chicken rice. The staff were nice in that they actually did pack me something for breakfast when I had a very early transfer.

The pool is lovely. Its built into the side of the building so you can swim overlooking the city and has interesting fountain statues. Shame it closes so early in the evening though. There are a few computers for internet use which was useful when you were able to get hold of a free one. Its walking distance to some shopping centers and skytrain. The road it's on is pretty dark though, so I felt like I couldn't walk outside the building after dark safely. Also the area outside the hotel was very polluted, smelly and dirty (not sure if this is just typical of much of Bangkok though, didn't stay there long, but this particular area was really awful).

So overall the hotel was ok, but there were little things wrong that could have been disasters if things had have turned out a little differently (ie: if I had have missed the flight or had stuff stolen). I also thought it was a bit expensive for what it was. Would probably try somewhere different if I was ever in Bangkok again.
