“Budget hotel with great Asian breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

This hotel was walking distance to a big shopping centre where we were playing scrabble but is a long taxi ride from downtown Bangkok. Rooms were quite spacious but a bit noisey due to all the tiles together with lots of Korean visitors congregating in the corridors. Bottled water and toiletries supplied daily. Hearty Asian breakfast small restaurent pool and small gym. Take map and directions in Thai with you or taxi drivers will have trouble finding it. No free WiFi. Reception staff have limited English but tour desk staff were helpful.

The hotel is close to the airport. The staff at this hotel was courteous, helpful, and friendly. If you're in the mood for a massage, the Thai massage, offered 24 hours at the hotel, is excellent. The breakfast is ok, basically what you would expect from a buffet. There's a convenient shop downstairs to buy water and other necessities. The rooms, however, are not in the best shape. They vary in quality from room to room, and some are really in need of renovation. The beds are hard, but my experience in SE Asia is that this is typical (mattress, no box spring). Overall, the hotel is a pretty good value.

We where in a large family group traveling on to Udan Thani so this hotel was affordable and close to amenities. The bedrooms where clean but the beds where rock hard so if yiunlike a soft bed this might not be for you. There are only two English speaking channels on the cable TV but there is Wi Fi that you purchase from the reception desk. Breakfast was aimed primarely at the Asian visitors but the variety was ok. The pool was clean and aces sable all day and late into the night. It s about 25 mins from Bangkok airport and its about a 25 min walk to the closest shopping centre and BigC. If Yui are looking for a clean cheap place to use as a side trip to Bangkok this woud be ok

I do not quite understand why people would book a budget hotel and expect 5 star service/facilities. I also do not understand why people would go to Thailand and crave for western food. If you want 5 star service and facilities then book a $150 and up hotel. If you want western food then go to a different country.

This hotel gives good value for the money you are spending. It sure is an old building with some old rooms but they serve their purpose. So what if there's no airconditioning in the hallways? You're not planning on sleeping in the hallways are you? In some countries (with the same cost of living), a hotel similar to this one would cost you a little over $100 for a standard (smaller sized) room and buffet breakfast (with fewer options).

During my last stay in this hotel I made friends with an American couple who is also impressed with the bargain they were getting from this hotel.

Room Tip: As with most other hotels., upper floor rooms are better.

I choose this hotel because it nearby BITEC and my sister request for her Graduation Day. i'm arrived around 12.30 with hotel van. First , i contacted with a front desk guy (he gave me wait around 5 min but i saw a lot of staff there) he told my rooms not finish yet and go for lunch and didn't told others staff known. All right,i can wait. second times 1 hrs past, i contacted with junior tan front desk female. she didn't knew anything and looked always telephone busily.she called him to find the rooms for me but he came to me with same answer and chewing of food. Eventually, i got the rooms at 14.30. my families arrived at 16.20 and they wanted one more room, i contacted again at front desk and very upset with one staff look like girl but i thought he' s man. i'm sure my sound and sentence very very polite but his face very scolded and gave me some bad words. i never seen before when i stayed another hotel. He made this many times reactions with my families such as when we need to drop and get ours room key. He didn't knew how was different between extra bed and extra person. i not recommend , old and not clean, bad staff, similar breakfast ,bad location to tourist place, over price, uncomfortable beds. i known the sentence " you got what you pay." but not like this unaccepted all

Room Tip: choose others

Bangkok has no shortage for 5 * $400 hotels, and are enjoyable to visit on occasion but finding a hotel that has services in the $40-$80 range is a challenge. The Avana is a older hotel, and its age shows in areas.

The Avana has mantained the full service features, very clean pool and large, above average restaurant, good massage services,(house center and room available), salon, hotel health and fitness area, 24 hour coffee shop, well maganged full service lobby. The rooms are clean and beds comforable. I would think it would be difficult to find a like value in Bangkok in the 1,100 baht range.

Room Tip: Many rooms do have city views and upper floors can view Bangkok to better advantage.

This hotel grounds are really decrepid and the deluxe room I had contained hundreds of ants. The bathroom had mildew everywhere, and the room whole had a sense eviscerating odor to it. The hotel is located on a side Soi off Bangna-Trat Road that was difficult to find. Located in Bang Na, it is not really close to any of the main tourist, shopping and bar & restaurant districts,

The breakfast was terrible, and my girlfriend and I got food poisoning. Safe to say it was the breakfast food that made us ill, as we heard dozens of other guests - from all across the world - complain about stomach problems. When we and and several other travelers complained compensation, we were offered coupons for 2 cups of free coffee per day but we declined.

I will never return to this hotel and would never recommend it to anyone.
