“Budget Traveller's Choice”

If you want to avoid the crowded and noisy area of Khao San, Lamphu House is one of your best bet. It's in Soi Rambuttri area, just walking distance from backpacker's hub of KSR. Everything is okay, except for the fact that my room is located on the 5th floor (take note: they don't have elevators) and it doesn't have Cable TV. The location of the guesthouse, though, is very far from BTS and MBT station so you have to ride a cab or tuktuk to get there. The food at their resto is very pricey. The staff/receptionists don't speak English very well but that's already expected.

After extensive, and I mean extensive, research over the years on foot and over the internet and actually staying in places we can fully state here that this is the best accommodation on offer for the budget traveller in Bangkok (Koh San Road area).
It feels clean, safe & happy. There is a large area downstairs to eat and drink in, internet access and free wifi, the 24 hour reception is friendly and helpful, you're in the middle of Bangkok but you could be in an Oasis...no city noise yet with all that Bangkok offers right round the corner! It is off of Soi Rambuttri- far better than Koh San Rd although right round the corner from Koh San Road. I have such fond memories of our time here....in fact we stayed at Lamphu on 3 separate occasions it was so good. Such good value for money. Some of the places we looked at were classed as 5 star...for twenty quid a night & a swimming pool. Not worth it! Dark, dank, no lifts, smelly, damp. This place blows them away and we used the shared bathrooms! This goes to show what quality it is! Please don't expect this to be the Hilton Hotel. It is a hostel. But it is the Hilton of the hostels! When we go back to Bangkok we will stay here again - and look forward to it!

Room Tip: We have always stayed on the first floor as this floor has shared bathrooms & the rooms were ver...

The Lamphu House was the first station at our Thailand trip and it was a very good choice.
We had booked a double room with private bathroom. The rooms were big and very clean.
It has a nice and green backyard where you can calm down and have very good food in the restaurant.

I've stayed at Lamphu on many occasions and I've always found the staff pleasant, accomodating, and helpful, despite the number of people who pass through here daily. Situated close to Khao San, its is down a short soi so very quiet at night. The rooms are cleaned daily and the bedding always smells fresh and clean. the beds are also a nice size and comfy. I've always found a room with fan only to be adequate as each room has windows opening to the outside (the ones with private bathroom anyway) and A/C wasn't necessary whatever time of year. The price is reasonable (520 baht for room with priv b/room and fan) and WiFi signal was strong enough reach upstairs but is excellent in the lobby area. They offer free daytime bag storage or just 10 baht/day/bag if you want to travel light for a while before returning to Bangkok. Breakfast isn't included but the prices are reasonable and there are always plenty of other options nearby. there is also a handy 7/11 just at the entrance to the soi. I would recommend Lamphu to other travellers if you feel its really necessary to stay in the Khao San area, but there are better places in Bangkok to stay.

Room Tip: fan rooms are sufficient without the need for A/C. rooms on the 3rd floor have more light

I stayed here for 2 nights recently with my boyfriend. We both loved this place. It is located off the main Kao San strip and in a back alley - so it's very quiet. The room and bathroom were both clean and well appointed. They have comfortable, non-saggy mattresses, cotton sheets and nice furniture that I would even have in my own home. The bathroom was spacious and clean. Hot water worked wonderfully as well as the A/C in the room. The main area and restaurant were also clean and they had a wide selection of food and coffee/espresso. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The woman who ran the travel/tour desk was also lovely and helpful. I would gladly stay here again!

Myself and my boyfriend satyed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and will be staying for the last few too.
everything about it was great. the staff were awesome, friendly and spoke great english. also great at giving advice and tips about how much a taxi or tuk tuk should cost.
we could only get a room with a fan (due to songkran) yet it was still great. loads of room and the bed was so comfy.we had previously paid for a hotel for our first 2 nights in Bangkok which was double the price and it was pretty much the same only there bed was so hard.
great place to meet people with a courtyard and resturant is good and cheap.
really clean and have no problems with this place, would reccommend to all.

Room Tip: Obviously A/C is better but the fans for a double was great. toilets are shared but found noone had...

Really enjoyed this guesthouse for the value. Had a lively traveler atmosphere in the open-air lobby & restaurant downstairs. Very peaceful and relaxing at the same time though. The rooms are quite simple but good-looking and well-ventilated. It's a good choice if you need to take a step up from the dorm-room setting for a few days. I would either stay here or at Wild Orchid, which is a similarly good option. Had a single fan-cooled room for 250 baht. Bathroom/shower area was spotlessly maintained at all times. Friendly, mellow staff. They have wifi, the only thing is that you have to re-enter a new password every few hours which I found a little annoying, once you get it rolling, it works well.
