“Quiet and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

Stayed there over the Thai new year, for the owner and staff nothing is to much trouble, we had a room at the front of the hotel, and there was no noise from the road outside.
The location was perfect for the major sights, with a good selection of restaurants close by.
We had an early flight home so being presented with a takeaway breakfast to take with us
was just another example of how good the staff were, therefore I would not hesitate in recommending the Baan Chandra hotel for your stay in Bangkok.

Room Tip: In our experience any room would be good

Stayed there for 2 nights with a friend on our arrival in Bangkok - we liked it so much that we decided to spend there also the last night on the way back before heading to London!
Great place with a nice thai atmosphere, very clean, amazing location(only a short walk from Khao San Rd), very friendly staff, especially Kulthida...lovely lady with a smile on her face and very helpful whenever we needed some advice!
Lovely breakfast with fresh exotic fruit and nice orange juice :)
I will definitely stay there again next time I will stop in Bangkok!

Family-run Baan Chantra is a rare find in Bangkok. The owner and staff do everything imaginable to make your stay a satisfying one. We spent 3 nights in the deluxe Rose room with its small private garden at the back of the hotel. It's hard to believe that busy Samsen road is at the front of the house. The hotel's location is ideal. It is possible to walk to the Royal Palace. There is a boat pier only 10 minutes' walk from the hotel ( in Bangkok it's better to walk or take a boat than drive!). The hotel has an efficient transfer to and from the airport. This is our fifth or sixth stay at the Baan Chantra and we will certainly return on our next time to Bangkok. If you are a small hotel lover, then Baan Chantra will be right for you. Go for the quiet deluxe rooms if you can (book early!).

Baan Chantra is an oasis in the wonderful chaos that is Bangkok. We felt so welcomed--especially wonderful after a day and a half of exhausting travel. Kulthilda was so kind and very helpful, and the rest of the staff was great also. Our room was lovely and included a computer--so helpful. Breakfast was great. I am so glad that we were fairly close to major sites (for example, the Grand Palace) but not in the noise and frenetic KaoSan road area. I would highly recommend this small hotel.

Room Tip: We loved the first floor room right behind the lobby--so quiet and had its own outside patio area.

I stayed here one night between arrival to Bangkok and a flight the following day. The location was perfect for a one day stopover in Bangkok as it was very close to most of the main areas.

As another reviewer said, the rooms were a bit disappointing for the price range. The general atmosphere of the hotel was very nice and I enjoyed sitting in the commons areas, but the room itself was very simple and not particularly impressive. Regardless, I slept well without noticing any noise (I'm a light sleeper), and the staff seemed friendly although I didn't stay long enough to need to ask them for much.

Overall it was worth it for me to stay here for the location but I don't think I'd stay here again.

This small hotel is absolutely perfect for a Bangkok city Break. It offers respite from an amazing buzzing city.
The hotel is situated very close to the vibrant KaoSan Road.

Kulthilda and the staff at this family run hotel were extremely welcoming and attentive to all our requirements, which was great after a long exhaustive flight from the U.K.

We had arranged to meet an old friend and Kulthilda was very helpful in helping us make contact with him at his hotel in order that we could plan our get together.

Breakfast was freshly prepared and juices, tea and coffee were continually topped up and more food offered as required.

There is a bit of traffic noise from outside, but it is an authentic city hotel with heaps of character.

When leaving the hotel the staff always hailed our taxi and told the drivers our destinations and that we were to be traveling with the meter on , which as we discovered is no mean feat when hailing a taxi on the street and trying to get the meter on or negotiating a price.

The interior of the hotel is absolutely amazing it is truly authentic with the rest area on the the first floor furnished and built with Bamboo wood.

The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, again decorated in typical Thai design.

I had a slight problem with my follow on flight ticket from Bangkok and Kulthilda helped me obtain a copy of my boarding pass. Again excellent customer service.

We were leaving the hotel at 5:00 a.m. to go to the airport and a packed Breakfast was freshly prepared for us.
Kulthilda and her husband were up and ready and ensured that we were all prepared and ready to go on with our next leg of the Thai experience.

The Hospitality given the family at the Baan Chantra is the best I have came across in all my years of traveling .

I would thoroughly recommend this small hotel to anyone who is looking for a place to relax after a hectic day in the city.

I will and would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Bangkok. It is the perfect small hotel for a city break.

This hotel is more like a home. It is charming and beautiful, the owner Kulthilda is AMAZING. She is so gracious and helpful, recommending places to go and marking them on our map! We would definitely stay here again, we were sad to leave.
Highly recommended!!
