My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights at the tail end of our trip. We were just back from the islands, so this was a great little hideaway to come back to Bangkok to. It had a bit more of the feel of the islands than other hotels. It is a lovely old building, decorated with a vintage feel and gorgeous hand-painted murals in the rooms and other corridors in the hotel. When staying here, you are sort of one with the outdoors. The doors and windows in the rooms are gappy and single paned so the noise from the restaurant can be heard in the daytime. We liked that about it. Its not a party atmosphere - a bit more traveler, couples and family oriented, so there's not a lot of noise anywhere in the hours you would want quiet. The only precaution I give is for light sleepers. Bring earplugs because the birds in the open courtyard (just outside our window) can be heard very early in the morning.
The breakfast was very nice. Fresh juice, tea & coffee, western options with eggs and toast, or traditional Thai on offer as well. All very good! The courtyard downstairs where breakfast is served is lovely! All open with foliage, but closed off to the outside street. Its a quiet little space filled with antiques and bright colours.
I have to give a special mention to just how wonderful the service was! From the beginning, all the staff were bright and helpful. My husband and I missed our flight back to the UK early in the morning when we were due to leave. The young lady at reception was so wonderful to us as she called the airport and airline on her mobile phone to try and get us onto the next flight. When we had to make a quick exit, she called us a taxi and set everything up so we could just race out and make up for lost time. A big thank you for that!
I highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for fantastic stay in a quieter location. Close to the river and just a short taxi or tuk-tuk ride from a great area to eat out at night and close to the Khaosan Road if you want to see the night market in action. We will be back to Bangkok for sure and our first choice of accommodation will be here.
