Wonderful old-fashioned boutique hotel on soi 31 - not walking distance from the usual night life attractions, but a bit more peaceful for it. Big, comfortable old fashioned rooms and bath rooms. Excellent F&B in the library style public areas. Complimentary internet access and lap-top loan. Only 12 rooms, so feels much more like a home from home than the standard 5-star factory. Not especially good value for money, but worth the price for something different.

We stay in Bangkok on business very often to getaway from the boring,drab cookie-cutter world of the big chains of hotels.
Being hoteliers ourselves we are always on the look out for a gem and is very critical when hotels do not meet expectations.
The Eugenia has that old-world colonial charm from the decor, the well-stacked libray, the room with the old-fashion handmade
copper tub and the lounge you definitely feel the charm.
Our meals were all excellant from french toast for breakfast,
pad thai and parma ham sandwich for lunch and our very fabulous fettucini with truffles. The chef is a star and what a delight to have such high-end variety and tastes with a maitre d that knows how to pamper.

It is very obvious that the owners are connissours of fine food, wine, travel and fine living.The Eugenia is well deserving of their Relais Chateaux status and although a few comments on this site beg to differ we will definitely recommend and return to this little gem the next time we are in Bangkok...we were treated like
royality by every member of the staff and the tranquility being away from crazy Bangkok I think is an asset and not a deterrant.
Thanks for giving us a refreshing colonial side of Bangkok!

The Eugenia is one of the best hotel experiences we have had anywhere in the world. It is rare to come across a property that gets so much right. This is not your average hotel and you need to be prepared for something different. It is a little off the beaten track as far as Bangkok goes, but we had no difficulty getting around BKL. The train station is only 10 mins walk away and the hotel has a complimentary tuktuk and were only too happy to pick us up and drop us off locally.
The service was outstanding. I am utterly perplexed at the previous review. We had nothing but helpful, effusive service. They could not have been more accommodating and understood what it took to provide excellent service to discerning customers. We are from the luxury lodge industry and know what we are talking about.
We stayed in the Eugenia Suite and thought the rooms charming and beautifully presented, filled with character and antiques. What the rooms are not are standard hotel rooms with the ubiquitous overstuffed patterned sofa and the business desk. This hotel is about style, ambience and theatre almost. It is one of the most beautiful interiors I have been in, in a small luxury hotel. Incredibly original (and for a hotel that his hard to achieve).
If there is one thing that is a little quirky, the shower over the gorgeous antique copper bath tended to spill a little water on to the bathroom floor. A towel saw to that, however.
This is a Relaix & Chateau property and deservedly so. Some people will not 'get it', however and perhaps the previous guest comes in to that category.
Bring with you just a little sense of adventure and have an incredible hotel experience. Loved it.

We have lived in Asia for eight years and travel there every year,
always staying in small boutique hotels. The Eugenia was a big disappointment. It looked beautiful on the net but our stay proved otherwise. We specificly booked a double room but were given a very dark, small twin room at the back. When we complained we were told that if we had booked directly with the hotel and not with an agent we would have been given the room we wanted. This gave a very bad first impression. At breakfast half the items on the menu did not arrive. We repeatedly had to ask for coffee from waiters who were always in the next room. At lunch we ordered a Thai dish which included sweets and tea. After some time, we were told that the sweets were finished and only after insisting was tea brought. During our stay there was non stop work next door on a multi-level building overlooking the swimming pool. This made it impossible to relax in the garden. There were no apologies for the noise, or for being given the wrong room. Even when work on the building next door has finished, made sure you are not given a room that is small dark and pokey! There are now quite a few small boutique hotels in Bangkok which, we feel, give better accommodation and service and are also more conveniently located.
