“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Our room was very comfortable and large. Breakfast was really delicious and various. Location was good, only 5 minutes on foot from the nearest skytrain station. Staff was kind and helpful. There was a pool on the 7th floor, but we didn't use it.

Elegant hotel, the suites are enormous. The little luggage closet alone is big enough to be room (42 sq feet) also has a washer/dry room, kitchen, 2 bathroom, and more closet space than you can use. Lots of nice extras like 2 devices to make coffee(drip or hot pot) 5 speaker surround sound on the T.V. Breakfast is very good for the size of the hotel with the menu varying on pastas, potatoes, congee etc daily. The only down side is: while the hotel is not far from the Skytrain, it doesn't feel close when you have to walk it (there is a set of stairs and the raised and covered walkway is about a block long)
Has a very elegant wine and pasta bistro pool side and good room service and convenience store just off the lobby.

Room Tip: The pool is on the 7th floor so suites on that floor can very quickly get to the pool but then the h...

I went to Bangkok for work and took along my husband for a brief weekend stay. The location of the hotel is just perfect, at walking distance from the MRT station and the Phat Gong Market. Other touristy areas were also comparatively closer. We got a good price deal on Agoda.com and enjoyed our stay in a one bedrom suite. Though the room had a fully functional modern kitchen, we didnt get to using it because we were sight-seeing.The huge breakfast spread with different cuisines was the cherry on the cake.

Room Tip: Get the deal from Agoda and specifically mention the road facing room.

I used to live in Bangkok and was a member of the Cascades health club within the Ascott, so I love to stay here when in Bangkok for a few days or more. The one bedroom suites are large, comfortable and well equipped. They represent good value for money.
What sets this establishment apart from others for me, is the Cascades gym which is not your usual hotel gym. It is huge, comfortable and world class. The pool area is also very agreeable.
The service is always good at the Ascott. The location is a 5 minute walk to the Chongnonsi sky train station. That is fine for me if I have plenty of time in Bangkok. If I am staying for just a night or two, I choose a more central location.

The best thing about this hotel is the intimate, fresh pool area. The pool itself is quite small, but that was no problem getting a place to sit or lay down in the sun. The bar and restaurant beside the pool offered good, but a little bit expensive food and beverage (as expected).
The room was huge (!), but the beds could have been softer. One of the bathrooms was really luxurious, the other one a little bit worn (the hot tub leaked water). But this was really not a problem. I had more problems with the smell in the hall. If it wasn't for this the stay would have been just great.
Breakfast is really good, and the location is ok. It is not too far from sky train, even with heavy rucksacks.

The Ascott Sathorn is truly wonderful. We spent a few weeks in Bangkok again recently, stayed in three different hotels and Ascott was the standout. The apartments are roomy, modern and well maintained. Full kitchen facilities allows for home cooking if you are that way inclined, although the room service menu is very good. Just booked another seven nights for next trip and hope to spend some time in the amazing gym next time. We also love the Eastin Hotel just down the road, however the rooms here are bigger and the kitchen/lounge is a bonus.

My family of 5 stayed in the two bedroom apartment for 2 nights, and it was much more than we expected. The apartment was huge! Bigger than most two-bedroom condos back home. The shower/bathroom was nice and clean; the beds were very comfortable. A/C worked well and the temperature of each room could be controlled separately. The hotel should update the Wifi as it is slow. Also, the hardwood floors need updating (gaps in floor boards), but these are minor issues. The staff were friendly and helpful, though we did experience some delays in checking-in and checking-out. We would definitely stay here again, especially great for longer stays.
