“Just a mall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014

Once upon a time I went to a shopping mall in Bangkok.

I can't really tell you that this is an experience not to be missed as that would just not be true.

If you have already visited a shopping mall in your life, then this is no different to any other you would have been to. Expensive (but not extortionate) shops can be visited. There are restaurants of the fast food variety as well as some more non-fast variety.

And everybody lived happily ever after.

The End..

located at the heart of bangkok, you can find almost everything here. The food court is abit small, and pricey.

“The Best Mall and Location in Bangkok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

While there are many malls in Bangkok, Siam Paragon is #1 on the list to visit when in Bangkok for shopping. While it is known for high end authentic brand name shops, it offers plenty for people of all budgets, nationalities and age groups.

Families with children can find plenty to do here. On the ground level there is Siam Ocean World which is a very famous aquarium with plenty to look at and some additional activities available too. There is also a 5D theatre right next to it. On the fifth floor is Kidzania. This is for age groups 4-15 years old. It allows kids to roll play in various dream jobs such as working as a dentist, staffing a Boeing-777, saving a building from fire with real water and so much more. There are 80 different jobs and is something for all ages 4 and up to be seen here. The mall also has a Game Zone arcade too.

Food is another main attraction of Siam Paragon. On the bottom level the food court called Food Hall which uses a coupon system is excellent. Here you load up a prepaid card that can be used for purchases. When finished you take the card back to redeem the remainder for cash. Vegans and vegetarians take note that Food Hall has excellent Vegan food with 10-15 different dishes to choose from. It however is mostly mock-meat dishes and looks so authentic, you probably will be forced to ask the staff to confirm it is all vegetarian, and yes it not only is it vegetarian but it is all vegan friendly too. Just look for the sign that says vegetarian. That is one particular stand of Food Hall. Meat eaters will find tons of options here too.

There is of course much more than just the food hall. All your international fast food chains can be found here such as Starbucks, McDonald's, KFC, Häagen-Dazs, Swensen's Ice Cream, Fuji Japanese etc. There are other delicious shops for Italian, Thai food, is a Fish Café branch which is one of the most popular Fish and Chips chains in the area and so much more. If you like higher end dining this can be found here too for most all tastes. Thai, Italian, Japanese, Indian food, you name it and you’ll find it here.

As for the shopping, featured is authentic shops of the major high-end brand names Gucci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, Coach, Bvlgari, Fendi, Jimmy Choo and literally dozens more.

You can even purchase a luxury car right at Siam Paragon. There are showrooms that include Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche, Jaguar, BMW and other high end vehicles.

Despite all the luxury, there is still plenty of shopping for those with mortal incomes, with local stores selling a mix of generic and brand name clothing and other merchandise.

All in all, when traveling to Bangkok basing yourself as close to Siam Paragon as possible is very ideal. This is right across from Siam Discovery Zone which has other attractions including Madame Tussauds wax museum. It is also in walking distance to Central World which has additional shopping and food opportunities and other things for children such as coin operated rides, an arcade and a play section with slides. In the other direction it is a fairly easy walk to Platinum Fashion Mall too. Outside shopping can be found right in the area here called Siam Square too. There is a BTS right here, so it is easy to get around other areas of Bangkok and this is also one of the easier places to grab a taxi too.

The hotels I’ve stayed at that are in walking distance to Siam Paragon include Novotel on Siam Square, Centara Grand at Central World on my more recent stay in June (great 26th floor pool here), and for a bit longer walk more of a great value budget option Evergreen Place. For that one, while walkable, you might be tempted to just take a BTS ride at the Ratchathewi Station which Evergreen is right next to. There are a few others in the area in walking distance too, and again this area is a great place to be based in Bangkok, with Siam Paragon being the highlight of it.
