We arrived in Bangkok quite late at night and the taxi driver did not really know the hotel, but since traffic was great at night we managed to get there in 45min from the airport.
Nothing much to impress us with on first arrival... check in was relatively fast but reception area was quite gloomy. Our room was located on the 2nd floor towards the end of the corridoor. We thought the room was a good size... not huge, but acceptable for us just to sleep in (we didn't plan to stay there much anyway). I liked the boutique-feel of the bathroom - bamboo looking swing doors and chic basin and mirror area. Toilet and shower were average. Gave us a fair selection of shampoo, cond and moisteriser I think.
We liked the idea of being able to access the internet from the flat screen (wall-mounted) TV. Keyboard is in one of the cupboards and surfing the net is entertaining with such a big screen. Be careful about the pricing though, I think there is a glitch in their system - suppose to charge 600 baht for 1 day use but you assume it's 24 hrs from the first time you log in, but I think the hotel has it's own day log-in system where it goes by their midnight to midnight or something. Be sure to check your final bill!!! We managed to argue our point when checkout tried to charge us 1200baht.
I understand other reviews of being a strange location, doesn't seem to be much happening at night and seems to be mainly a business centre with not much retail around (in walking distance anyway). However, a train station is within 5-10min walking distance and relatively easy to use and decipher. We managed alot of our bangkok travels with the train station, and it's so cheap and thats a major plus! We had booked several day-tours and coaches seemed to be able to locate the hotel quite easily.
Breakfast was included every morning - a small selection, but we aren't heavy breakfast eaters anyway so was fine by us. We did notice small variation day-to-day in terms of side dishes and drinks. One morning had a really gross rose water/juice - stay clear.
In terms of facilities, we didn't see anything other than several tables next to their water feature...no pool, spa or anything. I guess bangkok is lacking land, but a guest relaxing area somewhere would be great. They will also do your laundry for a charge - great if your travelling and have no time to do it yourself.
We found the staff to be incredibly helpful - everytime we didn't know what direction to head in, we asked the bellboy who stands outside reception all day and he would always pull out his huge map to help us out. One of our tours needed us to meet at the Marriot Pier and we had no idea where that was. Staff went out of their way to call around and to finally direct us exactly (even writing it down for us~!!)
I would recommend this stay for the basic traveller who isn't too fussed about the accomodation side of things. Probably be best to stay somewhere else if location is super important to you.
