“Big 4 star hotel but decent service!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

Hotel is really big compare to the tar standard. Room is also big but a bit old as we think the hotel is quite old itself. Location is really great, just around 3 minutes away from the shopping and food street. Hotel staff is very friendly but there seems to have so many clients; complain to handle so that some more receptionists should be added. Hotel breakfast is INCREDIBLY terrible compared to a 4 star hotel. Have nothing but some egg, soup. It all is not accepted as a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: enjoy the vast of Thai local food on the treet, great fun!

The Palazzo Hotel has always been my choice of Hotel in Bangkok for business trip. Stayed there for couple of times. Previously was staying at the Emerald Hotel just next door. But the price at Palazzo is half of Emerald.

Hway Kwang MRT station is just a 5mins walk and there are many foot massages around the hotel and 7-eleven is just directly opposite.

Breakfast is quite decent too. Pay slightly more to stay in the Deluxe room and you get a softer bed and much bigger room.

The room is brightly lit and design is simple and nice.

SOMBOON SEAFOOD (RATCHADA) is also near by and serve great seafood. Good place to bring customers/vendors.

I come to Bangkok almost every year and have always used this hotel. The price is fair and location most convenient. It is not the most luxurious but is good enough. A pretty good range of breakfast food. Upon check-out the hotel gives out voucher according to the number of nights spent there, redeemable for a free night night's stay. I only wish that it provides free wifi to guests.

Room Tip: Boo in advance. They have a new wing with newer rooms.

From the Land of (fake) Smiles, the location for this hotel is about the best feature. It is about 50m from the main thoroughfare of Ratchdapisek Road. The Hway Kwang MRT station is about 100m to the left and the Thai Cultural Center MRT is perhaps 800m to the right. Also there are many shopping facilities there and thereafter, including the aging Robinson departmental store, Siam Jusco and the Fortune shopping complex. The newer huge mall is the Central Complex that is opposite to Fortune and that’s where the Phra Ram 9 MRT station is.

The lobby was ordinary, Reception/Cashier/Concierge efficient but not outstanding. There were 3 elevators that lead to the rooms and the restaurant facility was on the second floor. I was given a good size room that had a comfortable firm king-size bed. The room amenities were spartan, a kettle, but no coffee or tea provided, 2 free bottles of drinking water, funny tasting though. There was the wide screen led tv, a hair dryer, bar fridge and not much else. The parquet floor felt dirty all the time, and the bathroom had hair everywhere! The linens have all seen better days, and towels are frayed. Other than the usual shampoo/ shower gel/body lotion and shower cap, nothing else was provided. The water pressure was really really low! The air-conditioning worked, but not too well, sometimes I wished it to be cooler. Interestingly I found a price list for the room amenities that had many items I can’t find! Even though I asked for a non-smoking room, there were ashtrays galore and trace of smoking, which was very evident along the corridors.

Included in the price was the rather uninspiring and boring daily buffet breakfast. I would rather have free internet instead, as there are many local flavours within comfortable walking distance. And on that note, the high speed paid internet was not worth paying for – it’s not even high speed! I did find the best times to be online was early morning, I mean well before sunrise.

There are many other alternatives for my money in this neighbourhood and I would do that should I be back.

Do check out local shopping which is plentiful around, not just the air-conditioned malls.

Room Tip: Try another hotel

On the hotel:-
1. There are two wings; choose the new wing if you like hard bed and choose the old wing (on the left if you are facing the reception) if you like softer bed.
Old wing (i.e. Wing 1) is under renovation so don't choose level 9.
2. Wifi or internet costs money. (400baht per day or 1000baht for 7days)
3. Toilet may or may not work that great at times.
4. Air-con can be too noisy for some.
5. Breakfast not great.
6. Buy cakes at lobby after 6pm for 50% discount

On its location:-
1. Close to few small Thai massage shops.
2. 3min walking distance to Huai Kwang MRT station. (otherwise take the motorbike for 20baht to the station)
3. Near one of the best seafood restaurant, Somboon Seafood (3min walk, beside Huai Kwang MRT)
4. 10min walking distance to Robinson department.
5. One train station away from Esplanade Shopping Center.
6. About 300baht taxi ride from Airport (inclusive of airport 50baht surcharge)

Room Tip: ask for rooms facing outside.

This is a good hotel which offers value for money. A..lthough in a night club area this is only a good option if you are with friends or solo, not a hotel to be visited when with family. Lemon Grass leg massage besides this hotel is also an experience which you should not miss. The front desk staff is very helpful and speak English to a certain extent. Room Service and other staff members although helpful do not speak much in English. The place is located very close to the metro and hence also helpful for people who prefer travelling via train.

Room Tip: Choose the new wing.

This is was my second stay at the Palazzo. It is located in a non Tourist neighborhood of Bangkok. Yes, there is a nocturnal "entertainment area" nearby frequented by largely Asian Tourists and very few Western Tourists, that having been said the hotel is clean, well appointed and the rooms are comfortable. The beds, indeed are hard and the breakfast area tends to cater to large Chinese and Vietnamese tour groups. One should bear in mind the many positive points--it is very close to two Metro stations, close to a large Robinson and Carrefour shopping area , as well as a very nice large shopping complex "Esplande" with a very large choice of dining and eating. I have stayed on two separate occasions and have always found it to be a good 3 and a half star hotel. I was especially happy to stay there when there was turmoil in the center of Bangkok or when I saw a dentist at an excellent clinic very close to the hotel.
