“Cruel, Money crazy and Animal unfriendly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I have been to Zoos across the world and have never seen animals as ill treated as in Dusit. It is the most animal unfriendly zoo ever.

The elephants at the elephant show looked petrified, scared and famished. The trainers or keepers were continuously using bull hooks on them and making them do all kinds of performances. In fact one could pay for feeding them and while doing so one realized how hungry they were.

They also have a tiger cub photography session where the cub is brutally manhandled by any and every tourist for the sake of a pic. The buffet lunch of the zoo is not just horrendous, it’s unclean and unhygienic.

The Dolhpins and their trainers seemed to be the only ones that seemed to have a genuine bond.

All in all, a bad experience. The plight of the animals is heart breaking to say the least.

“A nice day out with the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

After reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor we were not sure if the zoo would be a good idea for the kids. However, once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised how clean the zoo was and how good a time we had there.

The zoo is not very big but we still managed to spend 5 hours wandering around. It was nice just to take it easy and it helped with so many small cafes and places to stop for a drink.

There are plenty of animals to see, and I did not see any animals in any more distress then you would do in most zoos. I think it was a pretty educational day for the kids learning about the different animals.

“Biggest and cleanest Zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

I love animals so if I have a chance to go to a zoo I would definitely grab it and the idea of experiencing a visit to another country zoo excites me.
The zoo is really big with good pavements and area to watch for the animals. Even the number of food stands the zoo is still clean. I had so much fun watching the different animals.

“Nice cheap afternoon out!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We went to Dusit Zoo one afternoon after hearing it was a nice place to relax a little from the bustle of central Bangkok. At first sight it seems a little small and dated, but we managed to spend 3 and a half hours there, and have a thoroughly enjoyable time! Situation around a large lake, there are plenty of trees around the pathways to make walking around shady and comfortable in the hot temperatures, and there are plenty of little restaurants where you can grab drinks or ice creams.
Entry is very cheap - the two of us got in for 200 THB (around £5)

Well worth a trip out for a little bit of relaxation and change of pace

One word of warning - we had a few mis-starts getting there, as quite a few of the taxi drivers we spoke to wanting to take us to "Safari World" instead, which is a much more expensive, and tourist-y attraction, with one taxi driver getting extremely rude when we insisted, and refusing to take us anywhere! You will eventually find one to take you though, so don't get discouraged!
