“Art in a domestic setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

I love art that is displayed in a residential setting and find many art galleries and museums a little sterile. the house is actually a collection of buildings and the small complex almost creates typical Thai village atmosphere. Guided tours (in various languages) are compulsory and well worth the 100 BHT fee. There's also a good restaurant attached, serving Thai and European dishes.

you will not disappointed to visit the old pharang house faced to the river. the atmosphere in the middle of crowded will tell you something about Mr. Thompson. the lady guide speak very good English and detailed about the history and make you surprise about business and his wooden house.

“Pretty interesting and beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

The guided tour (40') is very interesting and the whole place with its houses, interior and items would not be understood as such without the enthusiastic local guide. Atmospheric place which tells quite something about Mr Thompson but also about the time in which he lived in. Just next to the muslimic quartier of Bangkok. I recommend early morning, before the place gets too busy. Take anti-mosquito lotion with you.

“Interesting but not amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I thought this place was quite interesting. You can only enter on a tour but it wasn't too expensive. The guide was very nice and provided alot of insight into the man and the architecture. We also had a bite to eat in the restaurant which suprisingly was really really nice and not too expensive - normally restaurants at toursit attractions can be rubbish and expensive but this one was great. The place was like a little calm oasis in Bangkok so we really enjoyed it.

“Oasis in Bangkok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Good straightforward place to eat with a wide variety of food at a good price. The shop is competitive when compared to the airport or shop in Raffles Singapore. Not too impressed with the tour with too many restrictions & too few facts re his life.
