I was recommended by an ex-pat who has lived in Bangkok for the last 15 years. On entering the well decorated but smallish restaurant, I had to ask if they were open, as it was completely void of life at 12:45 PM on Valentine's Day.
After a moment a man and woman emerged from the kitchen and proceeded to wait on me hand and foot. A wet face cloth to remove Bangkok's deposits on my skin, a cool glass of water to bring the temperature down.
The waiter, a very patient man, described each dish and then recommended alternates to suit my tastes. Bonus: go in when no one is there and you get an oral history and background on the dishes, the country of origin and which dishes are appropriate with others.
I spent one of the most interesting dining experiences that I can remember, thanks to a waiter who is also versed in several languages (Tibetan, Indian, Thai, English) and is generous with his local knowledge.
There are 4 locations in the greater Bangkok area, however, this one is located on Sukhumvit, between Soi 3 and 5.
Go there hungry!
