“A pleasant oasis in the heart of Bangkok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

The temple is a nice break from the hyper-commercialization seen around the rest of the Siam BTS area. Very few people were around during my trip, which was pleasant since there are endless thousands awaiting you when you leave. There's very little in English inside, however, so go for the breather, not necessarily a history lesson.

“Tranquil secret Temple with Meditation classes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

I luv these hidden oasis in cities. Not only is it a temple but it has a mini forest as well for clean air. Apparently there is a free english meditation session offered each night between 7-9pm that I hope to check out soon. Stop shopping and start meditating! : ) Or just take a peaceful walk here.

“~@ A hidden gem in a bustling city @~”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

The entrance of the temple is along side a busy main road in the centre of town but amazingly, there is so much peace and serenity once you step inside the grounds.

“A true haven in the middle of the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

This Royal Temple whose name means "Lotus Temple' was completed in 1857 and was recently renovated. It is really amazing to find such a beautiful and tranquil area right next to the BTS line and squeezed in between Siam Paragon and Central World! I only rediscovered this Wat recently. There are two areas you should see: the Lotus Temple area and also the meditating garden in the back. Wat Pathum Wanaram has been freshly painted and restored probably because this is where the King's Mother ashes now rest in peace in the Pavilion at the back of the temple in the garden. The temple interior is awesome. The walls are covered with beautiful murals of former Thai life. The ceiling, the windows and the doors contribute also to the magnificent interior design of the hall with its usual collection of golden Buddhas. Do not miss the other part of the premises. A lush tropical garden serves as a meditation area for monks and people, who come to pray amidst statues of Thai or Hindu deities. A large pavilion serves as a praying hall for the gold cheddi that keeps the King's Mother ashes. If you only spend a short time in the 'City of Angels', this must be the place for you to go and see a piece of the extraordinary Thai cultural heritage.

“peace in Siam !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Even though close to this temple there were the street fights in May 2010, this Wat seems to be untouched by civil war, pollution or traffic congestions.
Situated between the massive buildings of Central World and Siam Paragon, it looks as if time stands still when you enter the grounds.
Have a walk around, talk to monks or pray, and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before you return to hectic shopping precints.
