“Good location - next to Bangkok's major shopping malls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

5 star for its location. It's at the heart of major shopping centers of Bangkok.
MBK just across the road. While Siam Discovery, Siam Center and Siam Paragon just 5 mins walk via skywalk.
BTS Siam is located right in front of the hotel.
Stayed there for 2 nights, then moved to Mercure for 1 day (same building, just different floor).
Nice and clean room, good breakfast and friendly staff.
No complain about this hotel.
Definitely will stay at this Hotel again if next time come to Bangkok.

Hotel location was ideal and central. Only minutes to National Stadium BTS which gets you everywhere for shopping and dining. Room was of decent size but we have very comfortable plush beds. Highly recommended. Value for money. Will come back soon. Keep it up!

The hotel is just steps away from an escalator up to National stadium Bts. The service is standard, the staff help u get your luggage on and off the cab into the hotel. Overall this is a clean but no frills hotel. I like it. The room has a very comfy bed, cleanliness is very good. For solo travelling, I feel that the room size is ok for me. Gets a wee cramp if its for two pax. The toilet is very small, similar to Tokyo and Hong Kong, has no toothbrush and if you are particular about shampoo, do bring your own. Just one problem, the bathroom also has a cigarette smell. All the time! It's a non smoking floor. I stayed for 3 nights.

I chose this hotel because its just next to BTS National Stadium station & within walking distance to MBK, Siam Discovery Centre, Siam Centre & Siam Square. There is also a Tesco supermarket 7mins walk away. It's modern outlook is appealing. The room is small but practical. The bathroom looks small yet I don't feel squeezy when I'm inside. The only thing is that it lacks hooks to hang our clothes & towels. Generally I'm impressed by the layout of the room & details like the corners of the bed are angled for safety & the height of the bed for extra storage space. However, the room wasn't very sound proof & we could hear people talking along the corridor. And we also have problems with the wifi signals in the room & keep having to log in. On my departure day, I used the lobby computer but its got 'no access to Internet', so I can't Internet check-in for my flight. Do remember to bring your own toiletries & amenities & bedroom slippers

We arrived way before check-in time and since they have rooms available, they opened it for us without us having to ask for it. The front desk staff are all polite and friendly and ever so accomodating. The room is slightly small (especially for me and my partner who are both "heavyweights") but it is cosy and comfortable. The bathroom was also small but water is hot and everything is in working condition. Our room was facing the stadium and coincidentally there was a Muay Thai competition so we managed to get glimpses of the matches. Otherwise, you can see locals exercising at the track in the morning and MBK shopping mall nearby. There are food vendors, coffee shop and a 7-11 downstairs and the BTS station is probably 10 steps away from the lobby. MBK is about 5 minutes walk away and at night, there are buskers along the roadside to provide you with entertainment. From Suvarnabhumi, we took the Airport line and dropped at Phya Thai, transfer to Siam, then National Stadium station. Abit of a hassle due to the transfers but if you don't have much luggage and if you travel on non-peak hours, it is a breeze to get to and from the hotel. I will definitely come back to Ibis should I be in Bangkok again.

Aside to the hotel and its services, I'd like to feedback about the tour agent at the lobby. The person who attended to us barely understood English. We asked her about Pattaya tours and she gave us the coach pricing. We asked for her recommendation and she just shoved the file infront of us. We then booked for a tour and made payment, and was told to report at 8:15am. As the itinerary on the file clearly states 7.00am, we inquired with her again to check and confirm against the itinerary. She was sure it was 8:15am. So the next morning of the tour, we took our time to get ready only to be given a call at 7:100am to inform us that they were waiting downstairs. We scrambled and came down 20 minutes late, leaving 4 other tourists waiting for us in the van.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the stadium for a nice scenery.

The Ibis is great for the value. It is located very close to the BTS. The rooms are small but very clean and cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. The bed was very comfortable. The wifi in the room was very reliable and the signal was strong. I will definitely stay there again.

The Ibis Hotel, Bangkok Siam, is a very modern hotel that is in a very good location right next to the National Stadium and MBK shopping centre. It is directly below the Skytrain National Station so it is very convenient to travel to and from. From Suvarnabhumi Airport you can take the Express Train at a cost of 90 Baht (2 GBP) for a 20 minute ride into town to the terminal at Phaya Thai and then walk about 50 yards to the Skytrain and purchase a 20 Baht (50 Pence GBP) ticket to the National Stadium. From Phaya Thai station go 2 stops to Siam where you get off and then walk up one level to get the train to National Stadium which is only one stop away. The Ibis hotel has been designed to provide a good standard of comfort in an economical way with the rooms being quite small but well designed. There is a fridge, safety box, free tea and coffee making, free WIFI and a very comfortable double bed in the room. There is a work bench with power sockets and a chair as well as a small sofa seat. The flat screen TV is attached to the wall at the bottom of the bed and has a good selection of English news and sports programs. The bathroom is well designed although small and the walk in shower is good. There is a snack shop at reception which provides a good basic breakfast for 214 Baht (4.50 GBP). There is no same day laundry service so any laundry is returned the next day. Ibis Hotel shares the same building with Mercure Hotel Siam which has bigger and better rooms at about double the Ibis price. So if you want a bit more comfort the Mercure Hotel with its larger rooms, swimming pool and nicer restaurant is a very good alternative. If travelling alone I will certainly stay at the Ibis again and will book the Mercure if not alone.
