“Awesome burgers, nice atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Great. Easy to find(just walk along Rama 9 til the overpass hits the ground). Great tender tasty burger - cheap beer (Chang at 70 baht); Yoda the cat for my daughter to pet; and Mathew the laid back unpretentious but welcoming host. Great music too! Will be back frequently. Cheers Matthew!

“Bacon, Cream Cheese, Jalapenos, and Homemade Ranch. In Other Words, the Long-Lost Culinary Embodiment of Cool.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

"Soul" is a quality that you don't come across regularly at burger joints in Bangkok. Places elsewhere in the city will serve you a decent burger, but the feel of these venues are too similar, too industrial-chic, as if they're just trying too hard to be cool. Fatty's doesn't try to be cool. It just is.

It's a dive bar through and through and in every classical sense of the term; go there once or twice and its owner and staff will remember your name and your order. It's eclectic and irreverent, with almost preposterously reasonable prices to go with the all-important quality and creativity in the food.

Its main knock is that it's either too small or too out of the way. The truth is, it really is neither. It's barely two kilometres from Asoke, and while it might be tough to get to for those all-too-familiar Bangkokians so firmly entrenched in the Ekamai-Thonglor-Soi 11 circuit, it really is worth the schlep in every way. Room is ample. Even when the many special music events get crowded, the clientele spills out onto the sidewalk that gives it an unrivaled ability to almost spontaneously spawn a real, honest-to-goodness block party.

And the food is incontestably delicious. It's a wonder that whoever is in charge of the conception and production of the menu hasn't already been snapped up by some ambitious hotelier willing to fork over gobs of cash for a burger (or toasted ravioli or jalapeno poppers or Wisconsin brats) with soul, but I thank whatever powers that be that Fatty's is there. I've already said a lot, and perhaps even a bit too much, but I honestly believe that every time I spend money there, every baht goes to a genuinely good cause. Go, and then go again.

“Great Dive Bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

A really good find. In an unlikely location, the dive bar features Indie bands, American microbrew and hit dogs and hamburgers. A little small and a bit too loud inside to talk. Curbside is crowded and next to a busy freeway.

“Great burger”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

Great burger, cheap beer, great value, and a wonderful place to hang with friends. I've been here only three times but always feel like I'm a regular whenever I go.

“Cool vibe dive bar with authentic American food, friendly staff and patrons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

They have Buffalo chicken wings that are just the same as in the U.S. That's a first since I left that country many years ago! Excellent burger at a friendly price as well.

I think this place can best be described as a "dive bar" in the most positive sense of the word. I have been living in BKK almost a year and just found this place. It's a laid back bar similar to what you'd find in a college town in the U.S. The staff and patrons were a mix of expats and Thais, very friendly group. Quite different crowd than the typical expats that one expects to see in Thailand.

The night I went was Nirvana commemorative night with a band that did a good job.

This is no "hi-so" place but there's more than enough of that in Thailand! Very glad I found this place, I'll be back!
