“Perfect Steaks, Steep Prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

Whether u want to have a nice dinner or entertain some friends or clients, this is quite a nice place with a very warm ambiance and a pleasant atmosphere. The steaks are super delicious, among the best you will have, and are always cooked to perfection. You will not find any Argentinian meat though. The service is very good, and there is a large selection of wines to please all demanding tastes. As you might have guessed, this is an expensive place, and its prices are definitely on the high side. I would have rated this place as excellent if it wasn't for its steep prices
Some advices:
- Unless you are going for lunch, avoid sitting outside. Whistles of the traffic policemen will drive u nuts during the evening rush hour. Go straight to the second floor.
- Preferably book in advance. Even better go there yourself to select a good table. Not all seats are comfortable, and tables are tightly spaced.
- Don’t try to save money by selecting the cheaper meat cuts. Go for the more expensive ones, they are worth the difference in price, and you will be paying a high price anyway.
- You should count about 150$ per person for a steak, side dish and some wine.
- If you are not sure which wine to order, go by your waiter recommendation, he will select a good bottle for you. If you don’t like it, you can still select another wine without paying for the first.

This place does some amazing food, great vibe in here, staff are friendly and very accommodating, if they recommend something then go with it, good selection off wines, spirits and beers, if you can eat then order a huge steak and if you can't finish it well then bag it up and take it with you, must stop and eat place

“Hmmmm....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

What is normally my favorite steak place in Bangkok, tonight they really failed. A NY Strip ordered at medium, arrived rare. In a steak house??? They took the steak back to finnish cooking it, but large sections were still rare. In addition, the potatato gratin came under cooked, as did the grilled vegetables. Very disappointing.
The manager was kind enough to take the steak off of the bill, without prompting. However, I would much rather pay and receive that which I order.

“Excellent steaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

If you like your steak, then you'll love El Gaucho but be warned, it's not cheap. Having said that, you get what you pay for and you're never going to get an excellent steak if you're not willing to pay a bit extra.

“What you expect from a high standard of product with caring management!”

Had large chunks of tenderloin and T-bone between the 5 of us and some various sides. All excellent and worth going back to again. Price a little high but worth it.
