“GREAT LOCATION!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

Booked for 2 days when we initially arrived in Bangkok. we took the train from the airport and it only took 5 minutes to walk to the hotel from the closest skystop!! rooms are clean, with great beds, complimentary water, flat screen tv and everything on your door step. we weren't surrounded by loud bars or clubs yet if we walked out the hotel everything was within easy distance with the night market 5 minutes walk and a skytrain journey of 20 mins to the weekend market!!! a MUST. will be returning for a few days at the end of our trip and will definitely be returning to this hotel :-)

There are plenty of positives about this hotel: it is located very near to Ekkamai BTS, the Eastern Bus Station and Sukhumvit Road, to some shops, banks and restaurants; it is new and clean, and everything works as it should. The rooms are secure.

Some things you can make better: try to arrange a room on the side of the hotel away from the elevated BTS line, or it can get a bit noisy.

There are some not-so positives: the staff is pretty shambolic, and put you in no doubt that they are running a business, not a service. Warm and friendly it is not. Breakfast is provided free, but you have to figure out the technicalities yourself. Wi-Fi is 100B a day, but if it goes wrong, you will be unlikely to get any competent assistance.

I have stayed there 7 or 8 times, for a night at a time, and find it adequate for that purpose, although I am irritated by the constant price rise - 700B went to 900B, then to 1000B and latterly 1200B.

For somewhere to lay your head, it's fine; for a cosy holiday experience, not so good.

Room Tip: Try to arrange a room on the side of the hotel away from the elevated BTS line, or it can get a bit...

I stayed here with a friend purely because I needed an early start to the Ekamai bus station which is practically across the road.

The hotel lobby itself is nothing to look at. But when I got to my room it was pleasant. Comfortable bed, updated furnishings and TV. No WiFi. The bathroom was Asian style so the bathroom IS a shower (you shower standing in front of the toilet). Fine for me but some might not like. It was clean.

There wasn't much around the hotel to do. A McDonald's and a Cinema. But the BTS is very close so you can get anywhere pretty quick.

My biggest complaint about the hotel is the noise. I believe there is a Japanese karaoke or something in the hotel building which went on pretty late (there is an entrance to something at the back when I went to investigate the singing but I was denied access). Especially considering I wanted an early start to the bus. Later in the evening people were shouting in the alley outside my room as well. Neither of us got a good sleep.

Breakfast is Thai style from a food cart. I liked it (although my eggs were cold) but if you're looking for a western breakfast, you might be disappointed. Coffee was from an espresso machine and excellent.

In short, I wouldn't stay here again unless I was leaving on an Ekamai bus early and had no other choice. There are other options.

The hotel was near lots of shopping centres & very close to BTS. McDonalds, Sizzler & KFC are across the road along with street stalls everywhere. The train is a great way to get around the city for a small fee. The hotel was small but nice & the breakfast was very Asian style. The language barrier was a problem as in most of Bangkok. The beds were quite firm, but clean. Nice hot showers & cold air con.
Good value for the price!

My girlfriend and I were duped into booking this hotel because of a solid TripAdvisor rating, and equally misleading Agoda rating. The only investment that this hotel seems to have made is in its website - the site is actually rather nice, and gives the impression that you are staying in a new, clean, albeit budget hotel.

The hotel is up a rather dumpy Soi in Sukhumvit. I would advise staying farther northwest, but there is at least a movie theatre and mall nearby to the hotel. (And a Sizzler! - random) That's the only pro I can come up with.

When checking in, they ask for a 1,000 baht room deposit - immediately giving the impression that you are staying in a, eh-hem, "short-term" hotel frequented by professionals and randy tourists. That was red flag #1. Red flag #2 was the room - what a dump - it's more like an office space than a hotel room. The ceiling is semi-permanent tiles that can be pushed up. Seemed to be the perfect resting place for the myriad of bugs sharing our room. The bed was hard, and the sheets were dirty. The furniture would be better suited for a prison cell. The "small balcony" is just a 2 ft x 2 ft space between a sliding door and a heavily gated "window" - with a lovely view of some delapitated buildings nearby. The bathroom is the shower - or should I say the shower is the bathroom? There's a small lavatory, and then an ominous shower head hanging in the middle of the room. No shower curtain. No clear drainage system - it was slip and slide after taking a pretty miserable shower. The sink was small and dirty.

When we were heading out for the evening, we noticed that the safe wasn't working - it had been locked with the door open. We called the front desk who sent a barefoot gentleman who really gave no indication he even worked for the hotel besides the fact he'd showed up a few minutes after our call. He examined the safe briefly and realized it was a lost cause. He disappeared for about 2 minutes and re-appeared with a new safe (aren't they supposed to be too heavy to just frolick around with?). He asked us to move our belongings from the old safe to the new safe - as we did, he stood about 2 feet away, peering over our shoulder at all of our goodies. Very off-putting. He sped away with the old, broken safe - thankfully never to be seen again. We ended up going out that night, but wondered how much of our stuff would remain when we returned. Thankfully all was intact, but the whole episode really put a damper on that night.

Thank God, we left the next morning. Check out was pretty easy, I'll give them that.

Don't stay here. The Ramada Encore is in a better location in Sukhumvit and the extra $20 per night is sooooo worth it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

I got a room here for about 26 usd a night on agoda.com. My rooms came with 2 twin beds. I checked the sheets and mattresses for bed bugs and found none. The room is very clean as is the bathroom and the AC that is provided works very well. The location is pretty good also. 1 block away from the eakami BTS station and a short ride to asoke station. A small mall with a movie theater and some resturants is directly across the street. Also there is a mcdonalds and kfc at the movie theater. There is a small store with attached pharmacy where there is a small food court so you will not starve. All in all the stay at this hotel was quite enjoyable the staff are pleasant and helpful. One small thing was i needed to call my credit card company collect and the staff told me that this was not possible at the hotel. I don't know if this is true or not but decided to add it for a more thorough review. Don't expect help if you need to make an international call. Another con is the lack of wifi in the rooms. There is only wifi in the lobby which is open air and does not have ac. Otherwise the hotel is pretty good. A few minor hang ups but i would stay here again. The location is good and its clean.
