A very revealing visit that will give you plenty of insight on why the Royal Family is revered in Thailand. The Queen is almost singularly responsible for not only preserving the textile industry in the northern part of Thailand, but also for empowering women in the country. There are many of her outfits on display that were used for royal visits or special occasions. She has either a wonderful sense of style, or very good fashion advisers, or both.
There is also a very nice gift shop, which, while a bit on the expensive style, is very unique in Thailand, as you know that everything here is original, not made in another country, and you an count on getting what you pay for.
Well worth the hour or so at the end of your tour of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace. And nicely air-conditioned to boot!
