I went here and I read a bunch of somewhat interesting stuff about Thai history. This all could have been done from wikipedia. There was a bunch of stuff here, but most of it looked average. Museums in Europe and the U.S. are infinitely better than this museum. Worth going to, but nothing special. The best place to go in Bangkok is the newly opened Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC).

The museum was poorly lighted, poorly ventilated and generally a bit run down and tired. However, it is a DO NOT MISS experience if you happen to be in Bangkok. I recommend taking the guided tour and you will beging to understand the many meanings and symbolism of Thai art, architecture and traditions. What was most interesting to me was the origins of the Thai people, the marriage of Hinduism and Buddhism, and the role of the Monarchy. Highly, highly recommended.

This place is truly cool. It is an old museum with treasures from all over Thailand and other parts of Asia. Almost everything is in curios, etc and it makes you feel like you are some archaeologist in the 1930's where things were SO unspoiled and there was hardly anyone there. It was like what the Louvre or the Metropolitain would have been 100 years ago! I felt like Indiana Jones looking at the different things that I may have donated once to this museum. This place is REALLY close to the Grand Palace (about a 10 minute walk or 3 minute tuk tuk ride). DO NOT miss this place, it is FANTASTIC!
